SOME BAD NEWS!

Original post by sr081906

While I was being entertained by drama threads, my mom called to give me some very bad news.

My stepdad is in the hospital. He was diagnosted with Parkinson's decease. He is 56.

I am upset and feel so bad for my mom. After years of being in an horrible marriage with my dad, she found the perfect man.

Re: SOME BAD NEWS!

my grandfather who is in his ealy 70's was also dianosed with parkinsons around 2 weeks ago. They say he has had it for 2 years and didnt know. I feel terrible, he has always been so active and it scares me to think that this may limit what he does.

for you and your family Sophie. However, my grandfather had this disease and there are so many medications and physical therapy that a person can do to limit the effect of the disease on the body. He may have his weak moments and it's the family around him that will love and support him. As long as he has all this, he is king and will be plenty happy!! I'm hear if you want to talk or ask questions, etc. I saw it from the first stage to the last stage - and although it can be tough, he will always be the man your mom loved and married.

Thanks Betsy! He is so young. 56

If he's agile and determined - then give him props to give this every fighting chance - thanks to Michael J. Fox, this disease has been given a new face and if he has the will to go on at such a young age, any man/woman can move forward from this! I'm here for you Sophie with anything you need!

FM me if you ever want to talk! I have been doing physical therapy and group exercise classes for two years for specifically Parkinson's Patients. I can give you any info you need and I've been involved with a lot of Parkinson's studies and research. Like I said, FM me if you need anything!

Thank you so much ladies for all your warm words and offering your help and advise.

Yes, thank you. I am coming to grip with it, and I am about out of tissues.

FH brought me some panera bread for dinner (my favorite) and give me a huge hug. He is so sweet. Of course, I about lost it again when he asked if I wanted to talk about it. I have a teary eye again just writing about it.

I just keep posting to keep my mind occupied.

Thanks again ladies for all your support!

Staying on this site ... and goofing off a bit did help distract me a bit from the horrible headache I have.
