Some DIYish projects

Some DIYish projects

So, I had a lot of leftover paper from the envelope liners for the invitations, so I decided to send the scraps off to Busy Beaver. They made 200 1' buttons for us. I couldn't be happier with the results!! We are going to pin one button to each place card.

And here's a test run of our ribbon wands. We are going to spray paint the sticks and the tops sour apple green for the real deal, but here's the idea. We got the 'ribbon' from Nashville Wraps. It's called Wraphia. If you search the site for that, you'll find lots of it.

Oh, and if you think the ribbons are a little short, it's because Dude (my little guy who also lost my mom's earrings on me) thinks it's a toy for him.

Very nice job.

We're doing our ribbon wands too (I sprayed the wood white today). My question is this, we're doing the 'balls' on top of the wands too....did you glue them on? Did you tie the ribbon or did you just glue/secure under the round ball?

Thanks so much

The buttons are a great idea! What a good way to use up something and make an extra thing that coordinates. Love it!

I just layed the ribbons over the top of the dowel, and then pushed the ball on top in to place. But there was a little crazy glue on the sides of the dowel. It's really snug without the glue, but a little dab hopefully makes it a bit more secure.

The ribbons aren't tied in place or anything.

I tried whipping it around a bit, and unless someone goes crazy with this thing, I think it will be secure enough.

Good luck with yours!

The ribbon wands are going to be used outside our church in lieu of rose petals or rice being thrown. The church doesn't allow it.

Hopefully a bunch of people grab a ribbon wand or their way out, so when DH and I walk out to the car, people will wave them around.

I didn't know what the wands were for either. Where did you get such a great idea? Our church doesn't allow anything either.

Here's a really horrible picture of part of the invitations. I also included a map I drew in Illustrator...with matching fonts and paper and text colors...
