Some funny & true wedding stories

Hello All....

I came across the book entitled, 'The Best, Worst & Most Unusual Noteworthy Achievements, Events, Feats & Blunders of Every Conceivable Kind' and there are some very funny and very true wedding stories:

Most unusual marriage proposal: In January 1964, a Masai cheiftain offered to buy the blonde actress Carroll Baker for 150 cows, 200 goats, and $750 cash. As a measure of how highly he thought of Ms. Baker, a Masai warrior usually spends about $200 and 12 cows for a wife.

Most unusual Wedding: In the Marquesas Islands, a bridegrom walks to his father-in-law’s house on a human street formed by the prone wedding guests. He steps from back to back at a stately pace. (If there are too few people to pave the entire route, the people at the back race up to the front of the line to be stepped on again.) At the alter the groom eats raw fish that has been fileted and diced on a human body. Presents are distributed and there is a great feast, and finally at the end of the festivities, the street of bodies is formed again for the groom’s return home.

Most unusual wedding day Greeting: It is the custom among some tribes in New Guinea to greet a new bride with a kiss on her bare breast.

Worst oppression of women: Until quite recently, a Bulgarian woman was permitted only one bath in her lifetime---on the day prior to her wedding.
