So I decided to go with a certain florist for my bouquets. I also decided to rent CP's from another company.
Well, I just called the florist to find out if they can make me a sample bouquet (since they had no flower samples on hand when I was there) and also to rent a branchy tree from them. I ask to do this and they get back on the phone with me and tell me.. no, we cannot make you a sample (although when I was there they said just call to have a sample made!) and NO you cannot rent our tree!!! (I guess I have to get CPs from them too!!??)
I said I am being upfront.. I am not doing flower CP's. AT ALL.
Guess they just wanted the WHOLE 4600.00 they quoted me for CP's and 6 bouquets. Unreal. I even offered to pay extra to rent the tree!!
Rant over... keep your tree held hostage.. and I will spend my money elsewhere.
Now I need some good suggestions for florists for JUST bouquets

Try a local florist. My local florist is in Riverdale, near where I live... but there are plenty out there that are not 'wedding florists' that your family and friends can recommend.
My florist was more than happy to help me with my DIY centerpieces when I first told her my idea - in terms of just getting me petals for them. We ended up working out a deal for her to setup my centerpieces and get the florals for them, I just need to get the vases and candles to them a couple weeks before. I am doing something like this.

I know.. I am PRETTY sure people hosting 'other events' don't have issues renting props etc.. from florists.

Thanks for the info on your vendor... this is they type of place I need to work with.. not someone in business strictly to milk the wedding cow

Yup.. totally messed up!!! I am actually shocked.. and just got another message saying its either the 4600.00 for all or basically they don't need my business. WOW.. and the receptionist is so sweet.. just the owner who sucks and wont even call me himself!

I used creative florist in Island Park. Doris is great to work with. I didn't order centerpieces from her because i made my own out of vintage lamps. I ordered only bouquets and a few baskets for the church. I also rented manzanita trees from her to use with my place cards . She is very accomodating and didn't treat me inferior just because I was not ordering her centerpieces. She doesn't do samples of bouquets though, but she did offer for me to come in to the shop in May to see the flowers I am requesting.
