Somebody put me in check! (sorry long sorta vent)

Somebody put me in check! (sorry long sorta vent)

Ok -- tell me if you would be a teeny bit upset about this:

I planned to go gown shopping today with my MOH about a week ago. She asked me to schedule the appt for after a certain time because she had to go to Mass. No problem, I schedule for later than I would have liked because the Bridal salon closes at 4pm on Sundays and that doesn't leave us much time to shop, but oh well.

So I'm waiting around for her to call me when she's out of the Mass but she never does and it's getting late so I call her cell -- no answer. I call her house and her mom tells me she went out to eat with a friend and her sister (also a BM). The friend was someone who she said would 'have to join us for dress shopping' (and I said ok even though it was some guy I've never met).

Ok, real nice. Here I am sitting on my ass just waiting for HER and she went out to eat with her friend and my other BM. Nevermind the fact that this made her extremely late to the appointment (by about 1 hour) -- thanks ALOT for inviting me considering the fact that all I was doing was sitting around waiting for her and she KNEW that!!

Now at one point I called her while I was on the road and said in a really nice way 'Look I know you're busy with your friend this weekend and it's just plain nasty out, so I understand if you can't make it, I don't want you to go crazy, we can just go another time.' She no it's fine and it seemed sincere enough but then when she got there she said to the sales lady (after some shooting the breeze about the crappy weather) 'Yeah, she better appreciate this!'

Yes, I appreciate you showing up late, not inviting me to the lunch (with my other BM)that made you late, and then getting attitude when you arrive!

Would you be a little upset at this? I mean, I'm not fuming mad or anything, but it just showed me once again how much my BMs just don't give a crap about this whole wedding business. I don't expect to stop their lives for me by any means, but a TINY bit of consideration would be nice every once in a while.

Please go ahead and put me in check if you think I have no right to be a teeny bit irked by this. If I'm expecting too much out of my MOH, I need to know so I'm not dissappointed in the future.

Nah...i agree with you and to be honest you were 100% better than i would have been.

Personally i have been having a problem with one of my BM's to the point that i don't want her in the BP anymore. She has been completey unattached to my wedding..and i have pretty much had enough.

Good Luck

I don't think you're out of line at all. It was very inconsiderate for her to be late and make it like she's doing you a huge favor by going gown shopping. As the MOH that comes with the territory. If she wasn't able to fulfill her commitment to you as MOH and as a friend, than she shouldn't have accepted the responsibility. I think since we're all so excited for our weddings that we lose sight that it just may not be as much fun for other people, but she made a commitment to go shopping with you and she shouldn't have been late.

I think I would have been a bit upset too. You know someone told me once, that when your getting married you see who your TRUE friends are. Well, they were right. We are 19 days away from our wedding and we are truly beginning to see who our real friends are. They are the ones we would least expect that have been there the most for us. I would be upset if I were in your situation, but don't let it get you down too much. You just have to think of all the good things happening in your life. The good things and the good people I have surrounded myself with have really kept me going and happy.

I would be annoyed too. But then I remember what it was like to be a BM in other people's weddings. IT's really a silly thing to have to do when you think about it. You have to spend all sorts of money and walk down the aisle and just stand there during the ceremony. This is why I only have an MOH and a family member at that who has been waiting for me to get married for so long!! I knew she'd be as in to the whole thing as I am.

Still, that's no reason for her to be so late--15 minutes I can excuse (I am often 15 minutes late!!) but a whole hour?? and then the nasty comments when you had already given her an out. Not necessary.

I'm sorry this happened---but, did you find a dress????
