Got engaged over the weekend. Is it wrong that I was jealous. I only had two months of the attention. Before my engagement no one was engaged/married/having a baby for the like two year! Plus this couple they both work there so everyone was extra excited because it was a true work romance. I mean of course I'm happy for them, I guess its only natural to feel a little like someone stole my thunder.

Re: someone at work
i actually never told co-workers/classmates at all. it was a hectic time and other people also got engaged and i didnt want to be part of the 'engagement blitz' for some reason, lol.

Re: someone at work
One of the women I work with is getting engaged soon, and is constantly talking about going ring shopping. I think it's fun! I have someone to talk to about wedding planning that won't roll their eyes!

Re: someone at work
Right now there are 5 of us that are engaged at work. I work with FH so we are 2 out of those 5. Last year there were 2 weddings and a baby. Most of us are mid/late-20s so we are all going through with these things at the same time.
I think it's fun!
We also kept it a secret as long as possible because we work together. I think we sort of stole everyone's thunder because when people started to find out about us they were really shocked!!

Re: someone at work
I can understand completely. My best friend got engaged exactly 2 weeks after me, out of the blue, and it was hard at first to be truly happy for her. As much as I didn't want to be jealous, I felt like 'my' time to celebrate was cut short.

Re: someone at work
yea but i think its different, for me anyway if it was a friend or family member - not a co-worker that would not bother me because the spotlight that is on me is shining from my family and loved ones

the week after FH and I got engaged another co-worker of ours (we work in the same group) got engaged and then three more happened in the four or five months following..plus we've had 2-3 babies born in our group as well!!!

Re: someone at work
i had a girl get engaged and she did not announce it or tell everyone....she just kind of waited till people found out. i felt kind of silly that she didnt tell me right away, and i also felt silly that i announced it to the dept. while she didnt say anything. i didnt want it to seem like i was trying to get attention, but in my circumstance....people at work everyday for the past 2 years had been asking me....'so when are you getting engaged?' 'did he ask yet?' 'oh is that an engagement ring (referring to a right hand ring)'.....so it only seemed natural for me to announce it to everyone since they were all bugging me about it for so long.
