and she was 9 months pregnant. She was due right after me.

That is aweful, if they knew there was a risk of anything they should have admitted her and done something!!!

OMG that is so awful. I know someone that happened to - their family no longer has baby showers because of it. It was very hard to deal with

OMG that is horrible....reminds me of a story I heard the other day at work. I was waiting on this woman and her two daughters and the one was 11 and the other was 1. We were talking she said the ages, and said something along the lines of wow mommy waited a long time in between you guys ( i dont even remember what i said exactly becasue of what came next) she looked at me and was like oh it wasn't planned. I actually lost my middle child (and without a breathe she preceeded to tell me the rest). The middle child was born at 6 months, and passed away after an hour and a half in her arms. She then blacked out for the next month and a half, and when she came too, her body had completely forgotten she was even pregnant. After seeing doctors and psychiatrists, she now vaguely remembers being pregnant, but still does not remember anything else. My eyes were full of tears and I could not believe it. So we sat and talked while she was feeding the little one and i had brought the older one chocolate cake. To me it is just so amazing what the body does to survive, like forgetting things that happen like this!!!! Give your friend hugs and send her my condolences!!!

that happened to my aunt about 10 years ago. the baby was born still born and they NEVER expected it (meaning she was feeling movement just a few days before).

A similar thing happened to my good friend. Somehow the baby got the cord in a knot in the last few days of my friend's pregnancy that went undetected. When she delivered, the knot got tighter and cut off the baby's air supply. He was delivered stillborn. The worst part of it is is that my friend was a week overdue...had they detected it earlier she could have had a c-section.

The same thing happened to a friend of mine.....she went in to be induced and the baby had been strangled by the umbilical cord, perfectly normal the day before.....so sad.....
But on a lighter note, she had twins the next year!!!!! God works in mysterious ways....
