My e-party is on Saturday, at my parents house. It's going to be like 65 people....a bunch of FH's family that has never met my family also.
Soooo my dad is all excited about the party and calls me to tell me he is borrowing his friends karaoke machine and wants to know HOW MANY KARAOKE CD'S WE WILL NEED!!! (no offense to anyone who thinks this is a good idea) I tried to be nice about it and tell him I didn't want to 'scare' FH's family (they are kinda converatives) and he got so upset at me.
Sorry...there will be no sing alongs to Piano Man at the e-party.

I beg to differ........karaoke is a GREAT ice breaker, lol We always break out Rock Band in my house when we have new people over...granted it helps to have some alcohol too

I can DEF see the problem though if his fam is conservative. Maybe tell him to break it out later in the party. After people have mingled and met each other.

That was my compromise with him ...he can bring it out at the end when people are going home. I don't have a problem with the karaoke machine I just don't want my dad to be like 'Heyyy FH's family! Nice to meet you...want to do a duet with my on my shiny new karaoke machine?!?!?'

Unless there is a LOT of alcohol involved then it might be a fun way to get to know people
