Re: PLEASE HELP AM I WRONG ???? !!!

Well, is the shower a suprise?

I think Nov would be a great idea, but since she is the mother of the bride there is not much you can say. I know that I did not help a lot.

If the shower is a suprise I think that Nov would be great because the bride would have no idea. Jan to me is a little to close. I would like a shower months before because people don't have to spend so much so close JMO

Thank you for posting back! lol
It will sort of be a suprise... the bride has so many other things going on babyshowers, weddings, etc that we will tell her the month but not the weekend and just make sure there is nothing else going on that weekend.

Thats a good point about people having to spend money on the holiday and then jan the shower and then feb the wedding

I say do it after the holidays. I know how hectic things are before the holidays and I would rather attend a shower when all the parties and shopping for the holidays are over. As long as the invites are out early in November, people will plan for it.

i would def. say after the holidays- once november starts people have holiday gatherings and holiday shopping so it's a crazy time of year. once the 2nd-3rd week of jan.comes it all slows down!

my wedding was in the beggining of jan and my mom had in mid oct so that it was in the middle of all the holidays when people are out of town or celebrating with family. i think you should keep working on her for november. i was glad that my shower was early it didnt take away from the excitement

i would do it before the holidays because otherwise it would be rushed.

Before the holidays. The bride is going to have enough to do before the wedding than to have to go through her shower gifts right before the last steps to her big day.

I had my shower pretty early. It was in august and Im not getting married until December. I loved that it was early. It was a real surprise (until right before when everyone was acting strange) but I was also able to get all my thank you notes out with out it being a stress right before the wedding. If you could talk her mom into it I would say do it early.

I vote for after the holidays. But I see everyone's point about getting thank you's out and it being a surprise. I think I'd prefer it closer to my wedding date, though.

I vote for January too...I don't think there is such a thing as a 'last-minute' shower. We had my sister's the day before her wedding because that's when our relatives from Colorado could come. Sure, it wasn't a surprise...but what counts is how nice and fun it is.

the only thing to also consider is weather.....since last winter it snowed so often, it might be bad if the snow cancels the shower!!

My wedding is in Feb. too. My Mom is having it in early Nov.

I say before the holidays. Too close to the wedding and two things happen:

1. People don't have alot of money to spend A) after the holidays and B) just a few short weeks before the wedding that they have to buy an outfit for AND give yet ANOTHER gift

2. The bride could be extremely busy and stressed out -- so much so that she may not appreciate the timing

Re: Someone please give me your opinion?!?!?!?!

I say do it in November. I got married last February and my shower was in the end of October for the exact reasons you stated. I asked that my shower be early because I was finishing school and had final and papers due, and because of the holidays. I didn't want to put a strain on anyone. So my mom planned it for October which was perfect. I think having it in January would be too close for the following reasons, it does not give people too much time to financially recover from the holidays and the wedding is the following month, which would be more expenses. Get it out of the way sooner, and if anyone decides to travel in for the shower, they will get cheaper flights in October early november, than January!! I had a few people travel in for my shower because it was so cheap!! Whatever you decide you have to decide quick because November is right around the corner!! Good Luck!!
