I've been crying all night! I'm getting married in 18 days, & my wedding gown that I had originally purchased from Macy's is way too big! I mean I could NOT take one step in the gown because it was a good 9 inches too long.
So, I took the gown to my own seamstress who almost fainted when she saw how huge it was. This would of course add to my $$$ that had to go into this dress. But it had to be done, so whatever. Now, I tried the gown on today & it just seriously doesn't have the same look as the original. I was in tears & my SIL said Get in the car, we're going to find you a new gown! So, we went to David's Bridal & found one that I really like! It would still have to be hemmed. It's not as sparklie as I'd like, but it fit & it was lighter. The Macy's gown was from the winter line & was so heavy. Then my SIL gave me a signed check & said, 'If you like that dress, then your brother & I will be happy to buy it for you.'

What should I do? With only 18 days to go, should I just stick to the original dress even though it does NOTHING for my figure & looks plain? I'm a size 6, but you'd NEVER tell by the way I look in the first gown because it's boxy & baggy.

I would go for the new dress. Your brother & sister-in-law, Im sure would be happy knowing that they bought the dress for you. Besides that, the new dress is GORGEOUS!!! I love it. Lets see a pic with you in it!

I would go for the new dress...You do not want to look back at your wedding photo's & regret your dress bc you stuck with something you were very unhappy with! The new dress is absolutely gorgeous!!!

As to the sparkle, you are going to sparkle no matter what you are wearing but knowing your brother & SIL did this for you, will make it all more meaning! The last thing anyone wants is a bride unhappy on her wedding day!

I say go for the Davids Bridal dress - it's stunning...start a fresh and new...you will sparkle knowing it was a generous gift from your bother and SIL...good luck in selling your Macys dress...everything will work out smashing...

I'm sorry that happened to you but you have an amazing SIL and brother. You're very lucky for that.

And BTW, I happen to LOVE the dress from David's.

There is no point in going with a dress you will be unhappy with and constantly worrying about on your day!!!

If the old gown does nothing for your figure, and these problems keep arising...its not meant to be.

If you like this new dress, it looks good, and someone is willing to pay for it...I say go for it!

And btw, I think its very beautiful!

i couldn't agree more. that was SO nice of your SIL to do that for you-- i think everything will work out and you'll be happier than you were with the other dress originally!!!! GOOD LUCK!!!!

GO with the dress that you like and looks better on you.
You will only get married once and you have to be happy.
The dress is IMPORTANT and if you are not happy with the way you look, it will affect your whole day - and that is not worth it

MAKE YOURSELF HAPPY
And get your money back from Macy's - sue if you have to, just for the point. And trust me, I am not that kind of person, but that is BS that 18 days before your wedding they screwed your dress up that badly

I think you should wear whichever one you feel beautiful in. If the David's Bridal dress is just settling, keep looking until you find something that makes you feel wonderul! If you're only choosing between the 2 then it sounds to me like the David's Bridal gown is the way to go. Good Luck!

I did the same thing for my sister in 2004. She searched 20 different bridal salons on LI for her dress. She was sooooo happy it brought her to tears when she found 'the one' and then she lost 70 pounds and the dress just wasn't the same. I gave her the check on the Wednesday before her Saturday wedding.

I say, if you love the new dress then get the new dress, wear the new dress, and smile like it's nobody's business!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
