Someone please help...puppy advice

My DH and I adopted a rotti/mix pup in Dec. and when we first got her she was doing great with peeing and pooing outside. Just recently she has started behaving soooooo badly, that we are at a complete loss. When we let her out to make, or to walk, lately she has not been going at all, then she will come in and do it right in front of us. There are times we have her out 45 minutes or so. I caught her pooing, and then trying to eat it, and took her outside right away. Are schedules have not changed, and we have maintained the same routine with her. We do have a smaller dog that we have had since we got her, and haven't had any problems with her. We don't know what to do, any suggestions?

Hmmm....is she getting enough attention? Is she sick? is this the only behavior that has changed? What about her diet?

Usually if she regresses from a positive behavior it is because the animal is upset

We give her so much attention, that is why I don't understand. DH walks her in the morning, I walk her mid afternoon, and evening. On weekends she is walked more, etc. When we are not home, and at night she is in her crate, and actually likes going in there. We recently had her at the vet, and he said she was very healthy, etc. She eats Puppy Nutro once in the morning, and then again at night, we always have water out for her. We play with toys, she does laps around the house, and the other dog and her play all the time. Nothing has really changed from our routine. I work nights, DH days, so there is constantly someone help. What do you think it could be?

I am not an expert but I do remember my dog going through phases, just like a child. Seeing how far they can go without getting in trouble. Murphy was 100% housebroken and then at around 6-7 months old, he started having 'accidents'. At around 10 months old, he started chewing the walls.

Perhaps a trainer would be able to help or just keep reinforcing the behavior you have been teaching her.

I think it is somewhat normal to have a short period of 'regression' especially if they were potty trained early. Just keep reinforcing good habits, and don't introduce negative ones. If it continues I would talk to a trainer and/or a vet.

Thanks everyone for all your help! Anyone else have any other suggestions? We are definitely going to look into a trainer.

I had heard too that dogs can regress - they just go through phases. Keep up with the positive reinforcement - praising her a LOT when she goes outside to do her business, give her really tasty treats too......

Definately make a big deal out of it when she goes outside. Treats are a great reinforcer, so ae hugs and kisses!!!

My dog has starting doing this too.. She was completely housebroken. SHe is 8 months. I think it is because she is going through adolescance and trying to be 'Bad'. That is what the trainer told us. She has started nipping too. Not angry... just likes walks up and nips your hand. I hope she grows out of it.
