I'm new to the forum - congratulations to everyone on your upcoming or recent weddings!
We're having a wedding at the end of April, and need someone (non-religious) to marry us during the ceremony. I'm pretty new to the wedding game, so was wondering if anyone had any ideas as to how to go about finding someone...
Any suggestions would be very helpful! We're getting married at Watermill Caterers in Smithtown, NY if that helps.
Thanks!

Re: Someone to Marry Us
We used Rev. Deb Viola -- So many people came up to us after the ceremony to tell us how beautiful it was and how they loved that it was so personalized. If she's not available use Pastor April. They're actually friends and if one's not available she'll pass you on to the other! They are soooo sweet and wonderful!

Thanks for the welcome and everyone's responses!
Apologies in advance if this sounds close minded, but I figured I would ask since it sounds like you gals are the right people to ask :) ...Because they are a Reverend or Minister - does it automatically mean that they come with a religious affiliation as part of the ceremony? Our religion does not include Ministers or Rev's which is really why I'm asking.
Thanks again.

No, not that I know of. I'm 'Jewish-ish' and DH is Catholic (not religious at all). We had a very non-religious, but 'spiritual' (if you will) ceremony. We had a unity candle and DH broke the glass at the end of the ceremony!

Re: Someone to Marry Us
Both Rev Deb & Pastor April's ceremonies are completely un-religious. They're not affiliated with a church or anything.
Oh, and the ceremony itself can be personalized to be as religious (or unrelgious) as you want it to be

Nope....Minister Keith does totally non religious ceremonies. We had a totally totally religion free ceremony. He was awesome.

that isn't close-minded at all! It's a good question!
Pastor April does any type of ceremony you want. Seriously, finding an officiant was so stressful because my mom is a born-again, DH's family is Jewish, and DH and I are NOT religious at all. My mom was not going to be happy unless Jesus was front and center, and I would have been miserable. April somehow balanced everything. It was the most beautiful ceremony (I'm biased obviously), but we still get compliments to this day about the ceremony!

We're using Judge Bill Corbett. He is a retired judge and the nicest man ever! He truly loves his job and is interested in getting to know both the bride and groom.

Re: Someone to Marry Us
I just read Rev Deb's site and the civil ceremony language being used was absolutely beautiful.
Side question - what is the average price that someone pays for someone to marry them?
