Someplace local..

anyone have any ideas of local states? i have never been a plane before and i dont' want to stress it right after planning a stressful wedding. someplace that has some activities. i was thinking hershey park but not sure if it's open in the fall.

I think Hershey apparently has a really nice resort if you are thinking of going there.

How local is local to you? You can always find some place nice that is close to home, just depends on what you are looking for in your trip.

someplace a couple of hours away. we really wanted disney but like i said earlier i dont' want to fly and train and driving is too long.

there are a lot of places close by.

Here is a list:

Poconos
Berkshires
Boston
Vermont
DC
Catskills or Fingerlakes
Virginia (You could do VA beach w/o flying)
Martha's Vineyard or Cape COd
Jersey Shore

If i think of more, I'll let you know

There are a lot of options close by, what are you looking to do? Relax on a beach, hike, sightsee? How long are you looking to go away for?

i would like to go someplace warm enough to go to the beach for october weather. But not anyplace that is in any terror of hurricanes. also a place to sightsee.

If you don't want to fly, there are cruises that leave out of NY harbor...

i was also gonna suggest looking into one of the cruises that leave from NYC... you can have the beach thing without having to fly anywhere
OR= i bet the poconos would be awesome in the fall... theres lots of really nice resorts and bed and breakfast type places ou there....

FH and I are going to Newport, RI after the wedding for a few days to escape after the wedding and before we head back to work! They have these beautiful cottages around the cliffs that were built at the start of the century and you can tour around the gardens, cottages, etc.

cape cod and martha's vineyard are amazing.. the cape has a billion things to do.. i went last summer and then the last day and night we took the ferry to martha vineyard and spend the day (rented bikes) and then ate dinner and stayed over night - loved it
