Re: SOMETHING DIFFERENT
i got the child wedding portrait of me and fh. I am going to put it on the table where the place cards are, along with some flowers and candles around it. I love the way it came out.

Re: SOMETHING DIFFERENT
I am doing the same as drewsgirl. I am putting this pic in a frame next to the seating card frames. I also got my own frames for the table #s, putting these on my cake table (see 2nd pic) and having roses in each layer of the cake. I am also putting these thank you cards (see 3rd pic) on each favor.
I don't know how 'different' it is, but we're doing a few little things to personalize our wedding. We're doing the cry packets (I'm making them myself), rose toss, programs explaining both religious customs/meanings (Catholic/Jewish wedding), having table names instead of numbers (will all be emotions or relationship-esque words), and that's all I can think of at the moment. Oh yeah, and I think I'm going to steal someone else's slipper idea. I think that's a really cute one that people will appreciate.

We are having a professional cigar roller after dinner, the chocolate fountain, martini bar and I am going to sing to my fiance (never done in public sober)

Re: SOMETHING DIFFERENT
Hi, my cousin and her BM's put on a dance performance for her FH. They put him in the middle of floor and they danced to a fast song that described their relationship. It was great!! Everyone truly enjoyed it. They got married 5 years ago and people are still talking about it. I think they practiced for weeks on end because everyone did the same moves, etc.

Does the professional cigar roller work through the Bourne or did you hire him on your own? Would you mind posting or FM-ing me the name / prices? I think my FH (and all of his friends) would love that! Thanks!

Re: SOMETHING DIFFERENT
A cousin of mine has volunteered to take Digital Pictures of us with each guest ( per couple or group) and then print them out right away ...place them on a picture frame and give it to the guest on the picture as their personalized favors. This way they can have a picture of us with them on our wedding day.
I think Oprah did this with her guests on her 50th Bday.

The idea is to have a basket of slippers for any of the woman whose feet may hurt.

Re: SOMETHING DIFFERENT
I saw the coolest thing in In Style Weddings - it was an add for a bakery that took digital pictures of the couple early during the wedding, then recreated them in sugar asnd put them on the cake. It was really beautiful - they were black and white and framed in little pearls. I'll try to find out more and post if anyone's interested.

Re: SOMETHING DIFFERENT
if you do something for the 'wow' factor, it usually backfires as people view it as just that, a means to 'impress'...
things that have 'wowed' me are things that really speak to the personality of the bride and groom. also an overall solid presentation (i.e. we don't want an elaborate spread served on paper plates unless at a picnic...) goes a long way.
think about what separates YOU from other people and get your ideas from that. we are incorporating our backgrounds and traditions and extrapolating certain elements to use as a 'theme' (i.e. invitations, programs, place settings will be designed by me incorporating some latvian symbols, my mom is an artist and will be making all the dresses and the table centerpieces...)

I had that (in color) for my engagement cake. I'll post a pic later on tonight if anyone wants to see. I got it from a local bakery!
