FH and I love swing music and dancing (he's a much better dance than I am), so we're having an 11 piece swing band, and are going to have dance instructors teach our guests the basic steps so we can all dance the night away!

we are having a jazz/funk/swing band as well and start dance lessons next Monday as we can not STAND each other on the dance floor (he claims i lead...which i do, can't help it...)
i like the instructor idea for a swing band because it can get intimidating but be so much fun at the same time!

Re: SOMETHING DIFFERENT
We are doing a couple of things different. We kind of have a beach theme so the RB is going to be carrying a large conch shell with a pillow inside and rings attached. Our sign on board is also going to be a surf board. It is my dads and it matched my colors and it is flowered. My family is full of surfers. Once people sign it we will have it coated and then hang it in a reck room in our house. We are naming our table instead of numbers. We are doing the anniversary dance instead of the garter toss and I am having a personal yoga class for my girls the day before instead of a spa day. Instead of having people take the centerpieces we are having them doanted to a nursing home. We are handing out fans at the church and cigars at the cocktail hour. We are also doing menus cut in a circle to fit in the shape of the plate. On the back we are putting the song lyrics of our first dance. I feel like there is more, but that is all I can think of now!

The idea is to have a basket of slippers for any of the woman whose feet may hurt.
Do you know where to find cheap, cute slippers?

Re: SOMETHING DIFFERENT
I love all of your ideas!
I sewed my own wedding quilt which will be displayed at the wedding . A few months ago I sent out 25 squares to our close friends and family to write us messages, I also have 4 generations of family wedding portraits from both sides that I scanned and printed on fabric. I am almost done, I will post a pic soon.
I also made our cake topper to look like us.
We are having a cigar roller during dessert.
We are having a video montage during dinner.
At the ceremony we are making our programs on fans (although I haven't quite fiqured this one out yet.)
