Something for the boredom...WHAT'S THE MOST EMBARASSING THING THAT HAPPENED TO YOU ON A DATE?
What's the most embarassing thing that happened to you on a date, either with your DH, or someone else....
For me it must have been when I was about 17 years old. I really liked this guy SO much, and we were finally going to go out. He came to my house to pick me up, and he had flowers for me and everything! I wasn't ready yet, so I was still upstairs when he came into the house. He waited for me at the bottom of the stairs.
When I was finally finished getting ready, I started to come down the stairs. I made it down maybe two steps and then tripped and fell all the way down the rest of the entire flight of stairs!! I ended up landing on my a$$ right at his feet. There he stood looking down at me, holding the flowers. He didn't know what to say. Neither did I! I was SO devastated! And the worst part is that I just got up and acted like it didn't happen!!! OMG!! It would have been a lot less tense and a lot more funny if I started laughing or something. I still cringe when I think about it, and I'm always SUPER careful on stairs now! LOL!

Mine was probably at my high school boyfriend's jr prom. I had stepped through my dress and ripped it before I even left the house. He went to a catholic school and since they were from all over the island the limo picked us up in location order not date order. So I was able to keep the hole hidden from my mother through my whole house. I get to my boyfriend's house and my mom is waiting there so she can take pictures of us together and I step out and she starts screaming SHE RIPPED HER DRESS! SHE RIPPED HER DRESS!
I was mortified!

Ok, I was a bit of a freak magnet when I was younger, but here it goes: When I was 17, this guy I was totally in love with asked me to dinner, so I was so psyched. He was older, I think like 19, and he used to get me concert tickets and he was a tattoo artist and I just thought he was the greatest thing ever. Well, anyway, he picked me up and it was the middle of winter, so he had a coat on and what not. So we went to this really FANCY restaurant where I felt TOTALLY underdressed. But I was like, whatever. Big deal. So half way through dinner, he still had his coat on. So I didn't want to say anything, but then he took it off, and all he had on underneath was a WIFE BEATER TANK TOP! AND, I stress the AND, he had one of those holsters on with a KNIFE in it! AND he PULLED OUT THE KNIFE AND STARTED TO CUT HIS VEAL PARMAGIANA WITH IT! I was SO mortified! Everyone in the restaurant was STARING, so I faked being sick and made him take me home. NEVER TO SPEAK AGAIN!

OMG these are so funny! Hmmmm...the only embarrassing thing I remember is I was on a first date with this guy and we kept going to clubs and they were all dead. We decided just to go watch some TV back at his house and we were sitting on the couch. He put his arm around me and didn't realize it but his hand was right on my boob! I didn't know what to say so I just sat there. I must have had a weird look on my face bc he's like 'what's wrong?' and I say 'nothing'. Then he realizes where his hand is and turns bright red and was apologizing for at least an hour. That made the rest of the night a bit awkward......

Re: Something for the boredom...WHAT'S THE MOST EMBARASSING THING THAT HAPPENED TO YOU ON A DATE?
well - it didn't happen on the date - but right before the date i was blow drying my hair nd i got a little too close with the blow dryer....suddenly there was smoke and a terrible smell! yes - i burned my hair off! there was ashes and hair all over the bathroom. and he was coming to pick me up in like 15 minutes so i didn't have time to shower again to get rid of the stench. of course - i hate to leave a funny story unspoken, so i had to tell him - he must have thought iwas the biggest freak!
and on my second date with Fh, we went to the beach and were sitting on these rocks - all romantic (awwwww). finally it was time to go home and on my way back down the rocks ai splipped and fell on my a$$!!!! so embarassing. scraped my whole leg and was in a lot of pain!!! we still laugh about it to this day!

My ex took me out to a restaurant out in Bayville for v-day. We both ordered the clam chowder. My ex did not eat it ... I did... and got food poisoning. My ex helped me to the bathroom (I was blacking out and could not walk straight). Right before we got to the bathroom door, I threw up! I lifted up my hands (I guess to catch the puke or something) but his hand was holding mine so his hand got most of it.

I was 18 and just graduated high school, the guy I liked was 21. He was chasing me around for about a year, and finally one morning I had woken up and said < 'Hmmm, I think I like this guy...' So he decides that on our first date, togteher with his best friend and my best friend, we would go bar hopping.
We hit about 5 bars in Long Beach, all which let us in without proofing. I was fine until we got in the car ride back. The alcohol finally decided to hit me. I threw up. Not just all over the truck, but all over him... After that night, I thought he would never speak to me again. He called me in teh morning to make sure I was alive, and told me not to worry about it. HE was totatlly calm about it, didn't care in the least. But a few days later, he introduced me to his mother as the girl who ruined his truck.

kmcwed - my story is just like yours except I tripped going UP the stairs instead of down the stairs. And I was like 28, not 17! It was a first date with this guy - he knocked on the screen door and I came running up the stairs. When I got to the top stair, my foot caught the stair and I fell flat, I mean FLAT on my face. I started cracking up and so did he! He said that was the best ice breaker ever. Luckily I wasn't really into the guy, so it didn't bother me too much that I'd just made a fool out of myself!

This happened with me and DH while we were engaged. We had just come out of a store and I wasn't looking where I was going because my head was turned while I talked to him. Next thing I knew I was on the ground. He turned back to see where I went and then asked me what happened. I thought someone hit me with a bat. What happened was I was walking next to a building and there was an air conditioner that was at the height of my head. I had walked right into the side and cut my head. I had to put napkins on it because I was bleeding a little. I was fine but how embarrassing.

My DH and I went to the beach (at the time we were 17) and lets just say that a bird decided that my head looked like a good target. I had the white stuff in my hair and on my shoulder. I was mortified, but he thought (and still thinks) that it is the funniest thing ever.

Re: Something for the boredom...WHAT'S THE MOST EMBARASSING THING THAT HAPPENED TO YOU ON A DATE?
November Sue-I'm sorry but that was the FUNNIEST thing I ever heard!!!
I was on a blind date with this guy when we went to a seafood restaurant. I (at the time) didn't really like seafood. So I didn't know what to order. So he ordered us both Linguini w/ clam sauce. Luckily I LOVED it. But it was hard to eat w/ out looking sloppy. So I nibbled. Then he excused himself to go the bathroom. And starving me pigged out. When he came back he saw that most of my plate was eaten. He looks up at me & says 'Damn were you hungry!! '

Re: Something for the boredom...WHAT'S THE MOST EMBARASSING THING THAT HAPPENED TO YOU ON A DATE?
The most embarrassing thing didn’t happen to me, it happened to my husband on one of our first dates (the third one maybe). We went to see GI Jane (I know, that’s embarrassing enough), and we had gone to dinner first. Half way through the movie, my hubby had to go to the bathroom. So he excused himself and off he went. ½ hour later, I was still sitting alone in the movie and thought he stood me up and left me there. I didn’t know whether to leave or not. When he finally came back, he said nothing. The movie ended and we left to take me home. As he was saying goodbye, I finally had the nerve to ask him where in the world he was for that long. So he explained that he had to use the stall (!) and that when he sat down his shorts touched the floor of the bathroom, which was flooded with water from a toilet overflowing in the next stall (eeeww!!). So he had to use the hand dryer for the next 20 minutes to dry his shorts enough to come back out to me. I felt so bad for him, and he told me he was so afraid I would leave, he would be forever grateful to me for staying. And riding home in the same car with him in his dirty shorts!! It was such a funny story the best man made a reference to it in his speech at our wedding.

Re: Something for the boredom...WHAT'S THE MOST EMBARASSING THING THAT HAPPENED TO YOU ON A DATE?
On my first 'real' date with DH we went to the Great Jones Cafe in NYC. It's a great cajun restaurant but it's TEENY TINY- maybe has 10 tables and holds no more than 25 people to eat and then 10 people at the bar.
DH and I had to wait about 25 minutes @ the bar for a table (believe me it's so worth it) and because I was nervous I drank about 3 vodka and lemonades in pint glasses.
When we finally went to sit down we had a nice dinner- but here no less than 6 inches away from the people next us. When we were done and ready to leave I knocked the food off the table of the people next to us with my big ole Italian as*.
I was drunk & mortified and started to throw $$$ down on the table to pay for their meal.
They were so nice about it but I felt so bad b/c they had JUST gotten their meal and I ruined it. Good thing is they are used to it there so gave them fresh meal with no complaints.
