Something has to be free... location for engagement photo shoot?

We're having our engagement photo shoot in a few weeks, and we're looking for a nice park/arboretum/garden to have our pictures taken. And we'd really like to find a place that doesn't charge to take pictures! Did anyone take engagement photos at a place that doesn't charge a huge permit fee? We're thinking about Bryant Park in Roslyn but would love some other suggestions. Thanks!

I don't know for sure if Argyle Park in Babylon charges a fee, but it's a beautiful place!

Hecksher park in Huntington, Northport harbor, argyle lake in Babylon and Brookwood hall in east islip are all free and beautiful.. Good luck!

These are good! We did ours at the oakdale arboretum. It was beautiful! There's a lake, an old mansion with a bridge and obviously trees lol

Belmont Lake State Park in Babylon! We did our engagement shoot there and didn't have to pay a fee.

centennial gardens in floral park is free- they are open until 5pm

we did our picks at jones beach, but that was at the end of may and it was warmer, so you probably don't want to go there hahah

the roslyn duck pond is another option- you TECHNICALLY need a permit, but nobody says anything so you'll be fine if you go there

My fiance and I took our pictures at Southards Pond in Babylon right before Argyle! It was during the fall and the foliage was beautiful. Its very secluded and has little pathways throughout and benches and a mini bridge. No cost either!

sands point preserve in sands point by port washington. it's the most amazing place bc it has woods, beach and castles! dont even bother calling to ask about the permit. we just paid for parking and no one bothered us

Wow, thanks everyone! Argyle Lake and the arboretum in Oakdale both look amazing, so I think we'll go with one of those! It's been fun looking at all of your albums- and it's great to know that it's possible to have three people stand around with a camera and not have to pay for it... well, not for the scenery, at least!
