Something to calm you nerves on wedding day??

Okay, this is kinda long.. please don't think i'm crazy but i'm actually worried about how i'm going to be on my wedding day...I tend to be a very emotional person, I hate to admit it but I'm the type of person to cry over spilt milk!! Is there anything you guys are planning to do (or drink?? ) right before the wedding to calm your nerves??My wedding is 16 months away and while I am really looking forward to starting my new life with FH (we don't live together yet) I find myself worrying about how my life will change with great sadness...my mother and I are extremely close and I feel kind of guilty about leaving her...this is so stupid but I actually feel like i'm abandoning her! I'm her only daughter...

Im just trying to prepare myself alot before then....almost downplaying it a bit.....so im not freaking out.!!!!!

I think im more nervous about living with him!!

awww...that's really sweet that you feel that way about your mom...but kids grow up and move away. she's known you'd be leaving one day since the day you were born!! don't feel sad, i'm sure she's so happy for you!

as for the emotional issue, i am having the same worry. i cry over EVERYTHING. i've cried at TV COMMERCIALS!! hahaha...so i'm gonna be a mess. but i can't think straight when i'm even a little bit tipsy. so i don't want to have a drink and forget my vows!!

I'm concerned about the same thing! I'm not an only child but my sister is getting married this October and i know my mother isn't going to deal with it well after she is out of the house (me and my sister have lived at home our entire lives thus far)

After she moves out it will just be me and my mother and my father. So I figure, okay it will take her a month or so to start adjusting to the fact that my sister isn't home anymore. Fine. Then she'll be busy with stuff for my shower, and wedding.

What I'm concerned about though is my wedding day. I'm getting married less than 6 months after my sister and I know that it's going to be even harder on her the day of my wedding then it will be on the day my sister gets married.

After I'm out all she has left is my father and I know she's going to go through some serious empty nest syndrome.

I just hope the day of my wedding me and my mother don't look like a bunch of crying fools

I could have written almost the exact same thing! I am a real cryer when it comes to emotional things (I was surprised just HOW emotional I got when FH proposed!), so I'm very nervous about being one of those brides that is crying from the time she gets out of the limo and can't be understood at the altar, etc. And worse, I'm not a 'pretty cryer' like some girls - it's just ugly and I don't want to have a runny nose, etc. Ok, that's gross. So yeah, I'm thinking of having mimosas for everyone at the house and drinking a couple (I'm not a fan, but what else can I drink that won't make me drunk but will still calm me down???). I don't want to be zonked out on something, just a little more relaxed and calm.

ETA: I too am the only daughter and my older brother is already gone and married and my little brother will be leaving about one year after my wedding for college... so I feel very guilty too. I'm excited about being with FH and moving in with him, etc., but I feel so bad about leaving my mom!

yeah i am going to be very nervous and i didnt realize how nervous i am probably going to be until last week when i had my e-party...I couldn't believe how nervous i was...I remember just thinking OMG today is the party OMG OMG, and kept trying to think about everything, am i forgetting something, how is everything gonna go...Then we had a bit of a problem on the way to the party, i had the flowers and my parents had the vases in their car but i had no clue until after we left, so i went nuts bc they were VERY LATE,i was yelling like a maniac in the car and going nuts...They got there about 10 mins before the party and everyone had to go crazy to put them all up ...I really hope i dont go crazy like this for the wedding...honestly this is exactly why i want a wedding planner or at least DOC, i just need someone to take care of these things and them to make sure everything is fine, i dont want to be the one stressing about it, but they have to do all of my ideas, they cant take over lol

I think we all need to accept were just going to be pouring tears all day long!!!

Mrs Q, the same thing happened to me when he proposed too! I was sooo surprised at how I reacted because we already talked about marriage MANY times....I even picked out the ring that he gave me,,..so when he actually did it I didn't understand why I was crying so much since I already knew it was going to happen eventually! I was a blubbering fool!! I bet you all can tell by my avatar, lol!

the messed up part about my mom though is that she's a single mom....my father always visits though...I could tell that they still love each other but I just feel bad about her having to live all by herself....luckily my brother still lives at home but I don't know for how much longer... and they're not really that close...but thank you guys soo much for helping me out, I thought I was the only one....i'm definitely gonna try the bellini's though,

I feel your pain. I am the same exact way. I am very emotional!!!!!!! This past October was my 1st birthday engaged and as we were having cake with family...I couldn't help but think that my next birthday would be my last birthday at home with my parents. So of course I started to cry!!!! FH made fun of me & so did my brother & sil!! I don't know what I'm going to do for the father/daugther dance b/c my father is just as worse!!!!! He cries at some commercials!!!!

dont worry you are NOT alone - i am the baby of hte family and the last one still at home, even though we will be living with my parents for a little while . . . the wedding will be the first step towards me leaving them and it is going to be hard

plus i cry over everything.

I am too scared to take anything though because i want to remember every single second plus i feel guilty about drinking before church lol so i am just going to try the best i can to not have booger ugly cry face!

i sob and cry over everything so im thinking that a whole bottle of champagne will do the trick! ill just giggle thought the whole thing

i am a big mess and fh has said he is going to be a mess so we will be a big mess the entire day but drinking after the ceremony will help me out
