Something weird is happening on my registry...please read and tell me if this has happened to you!

Just went on BB&B...and I am scrolling down and I am looking and seeing things bought that I never put on there...and I know this because some of the things I would never ever put on there...Not that I am not appreciative of what people bought BUT do guests have the authority to go putting things on your registry I don't know what to do!

Leave it, then you will have no problem returning it. It happens when people buy you stuff you didn't register for.

yeah, I mean they most likely bought you something off your registry and a few extras.... so it all just shows up. I left it on and it was no problem exchanging the stuff I didn't register for the stuff I did. Don't feel weird or upset, they just think they know what you need better then you. I actually did get one or 2 cool items I didn't register for!!

Okay, I can tell you EXACTLY what's happening. It's a BBB thing. WHen a person purchases Items from your registry, the cashier scans the registry barcode. If the person is also buying items in additon that aren't on the registry, regardless if it's for you or a personal perchase for themselves, once that registry barcode is scanned, all the items scanned after that are reflected on the registry. Let's say they buy 2 of your towels, check, they come off the registry, and it appears as Requested 2, Purchased 2. Let's say the person buys themselves a Yankee candle, and it gets scanned AFTER the registry code is scanned, this will now show on your registry as Requested 0 puchased 1.

I know this from previous people that it has happened to, also, it just happened to me!

Looks like these gals knew more than me, but I would DEF leave it. BBB's return policy on registries is FANTASTIC. CASH BACK for any item listed, so even if it something you really didn't want, you can just return it for the casheesh.

As promised, I'll still ask some questions tomorrow at work.

That's pretty funny. I have images of sitz baths listed on a brides registry (Sitz baths are used for hemorrhoids and rectal issues)

yup....happened to me.... there is a bunch of items on my registry that i did not register for. Thanks for explaining that, i was ral curiosu about that too

It happened to my friend there as well but, in her case it was mainly items similar to the ones she registered for but, slightly different (like an Oxo Spatula, she registered for one and they picked up a similar one but, not the same one).

If it is a gift bought for you, you can definitely return it.

Same thing happened to me. There were a bunch of UGLY candles that were purchased and placed on my registry. I r emember thinking oh boy I better practice my 'I love them' face, but I never received them as a gift. I guess the person bought them for themselves when purchasing something else off the registry. (thank goodness)

Yes this is true, thats why you should do separate purchases when you are buying personal stuff and stuff for a registry. Atleast I do.

But the other is also true, if someone wants to uy something off your registry and tells them its for a person registered. it will be added if they scan it.

My sister MIL wanted to get her a matching pillow to the her bedding that wasnt on their. they scanned it and was put on there. It should say Needed/Requested 0, bought 1.

BB&B puts those things on your registry - you have to take them off - they explained it to us when we registered - its not the guests doing it....

Like, a fire extinguisher, and other strange things.... We had like lobster and shrimp utensils, meat utensils, and we are vegan - people were asking us why we registered for them, I was like
