Somewhat discouraging...

Somewhat discouraging...

Keep in mind that I am soooo not planning on purchasing this now, I just wanted to look.

So at lunch today, since I am having a particularly crappy day thus far, I decided to go for a walk and happened to be by the jeweler where FI bought my e-ring. So, to attempt to cheer myself up, I thought I'd go in and look at wedding bands.

I walk in and someone is in my face right away 'Hi Welcome, what can I help you with today'.

So I tell the man I was just interested at looking at some wedding bands. He then asks me when my wedding is. So I say 'May 7', he starts to say 'how nice' and then I say '2011'. He gives me a weird look and says in a 'what the hell is wrong with you' kind of tone '2011?1?!?!'.

To which I replied, 'You know what I will come back some other time'.

Seriously, what kind of customer service is that? Does this place have a habit of making their customers feel like they are crazy for wanting to look at jewelry? And even though I wasn't planning on purchasing a ring anytime soon, what difference does that make to them?

Ugh, I called FI and told him that I am not digging the idea of getting my wedding band there.

Sorry for the vent. Had to get it out.

I'm sorry! That's obnoxious!

Don't people realize that if you see something you like you will come back when you are ready!? Now you don't even want to use them!

Dumb@sses!

Don't worry. You will get your ring from a NICE person!

Re: Somewhat discouraging...

I know seriously. It's like it's a law or something that I am not even supposed to think about anything WR until I'm a year out and then it's acceptable. Give me a break.

Yeah, as of right now I am not planning on dealing with them further.

i am so sorry this happened to you!!

this happened to me with a different vendor and i couldnt help myself!!

first i took out my envelope of money and then i said it really is a shame bec you would have had a nice deposit in your hands today and now you have nothing and i will make sure that my other 2011 brides know exactly how you treated me! and i walked right out!

awww that stinks! How rude! I really don't understand why ANY vendor cares about ANYONE wanting to buy or book something for 2011! What the heck does it matter to them, as long as they are getting their money!!!! I am also very tired of starting every conversation with a vendor with 'I know it's early but....'

i know how you feel i was trying on wedding gowns just playing around with my sister and the sales person started to give me an attitude and said by the time my wedding is the style won't even be around... she was so rude and made me feel stupid for even looking at dresses just yet i was annoyed people are so weird sometimes i wouldn't go back they don't deserve ur business

Re: Somewhat discouraging...

i think from now whenever I go anywhere that I am just looking and not planning on purchasing/booking, I am going to lie and say I'm getting married next May. I just can't deal anymore with people's attitudes and comments.

Awwww

I'm sry you had to deal with this. Truth of the matter though, I've had numerous vendors act like this towards me as if they didn't want my money... and they didn't get it. Just because us 2011 brides are trying to get things done early doesn't put us in a different category as other brides..

UGH I HATE IT!!!

lol if I'm going somewhere that I'm not really interested in buying anything - I just want to look around like a boutique or wedding center.

I flat out lie and tell them I'm getting married this coming February to avoid the awkwardness.

I haven't really had that problem with a vendor yet because Ihaven't really seen or spoken to any at this point, but what really annoys me is when my family or freinds act like it's wierd that we're waiting two years. My freinds are always saying that its ridiculous that we're having such a long engagement and the older members of our families keep making comments about whether or not they'll be alive for the wedding.

I finally starting telling people that if they want to pay for the wedding I would gladly have it sooner.

Anyone who lives in the NY tri-state area should know that planning in advance is the norm here! I'm sorry ppl give you problems. I hate it too when they don't take me seriously!!! all they are doing by saying that is losing your business. :(

Re: Somewhat discouraging...

wanna laugh??

my mom bumped into a neighbor at the supermarket - they started talking and my mom told her we were engaged... she asked when the wedding was , my mom told her July 2011 and the woman went into hysterics... laughing so hard she couldnt catch her breath... when she did she actually said 'Why so long? I hope they are together still by then!! Why didn't they just wait to get engaged next year??' my mom was so taken back she just walked away!!! hahahaha

my mom was sooo mad all day yesterday!! LOL i told her not to worry that we are not alone there are a lot of 2011 brides out there and even 2012 and 2013!!!
