Keep in mind that I am soooo not planning on purchasing this now, I just wanted to look.
So at lunch today, since I am having a particularly crappy day thus far, I decided to go for a walk and happened to be by the jeweler where FI bought my e-ring. So, to attempt to cheer myself up, I thought I'd go in and look at wedding bands.
I walk in and someone is in my face right away 'Hi Welcome, what can I help you with today'.
So I tell the man I was just interested at looking at some wedding bands. He then asks me when my wedding is. So I say 'May 7', he starts to say 'how nice' and then I say '2011'. He gives me a weird look and says in a 'what the hell is wrong with you' kind of tone '2011?1?!?!'.
To which I replied, 'You know what I will come back some other time'.
Seriously, what kind of customer service is that? Does this place have a habit of making their customers feel like they are crazy for wanting to look at jewelry? And even though I wasn't planning on purchasing a ring anytime soon, what difference does that make to them?
Ugh, I called FI and told him that I am not digging the idea of getting my wedding band there.
Sorry for the vent. Had to get it out.

my mom bumped into a neighbor at the supermarket - they started talking and my mom told her we were engaged... she asked when the wedding was , my mom told her July 2011 and the woman went into hysterics... laughing so hard she couldnt catch her breath... when she did she actually said 'Why so long? I hope they are together still by then!! Why didn't they just wait to get engaged next year??' my mom was so taken back she just walked away!!! hahahaha
my mom was sooo mad all day yesterday!! LOL i told her not to worry that we are not alone there are a lot of 2011 brides out there and even 2012 and 2013!!!

That is hysterical!! Some people can be so rude! Don't people realize how much a wedding is, and how long it takes to save up that kind of money?
Also I agree with Sandybeaches.. I think that because weddings are so outrageously expensive on Long Island that it's normal for people to have longer engagements. Plus I really don't think two years is all that long!!

But I simply dont care because I strongly believe 1 year and 1/2 is the best for us... Cash only! No loans. No credit cards... and when we hit that dance floor - we will be truly celebrating because no bill will be awaiting for us...
but i hate telling people the date (March 25th,2011) because then i get the sarcastic remark 'Why the rush?' Ugh. Its a RECESSION... it shows a lot of self control to not try to run down the aisle but to wait for what we want.... I dont want a shot gun wedding and I know my FH and I are happy doing 2011 w/o a doubt so thats all the matters to me... BUMP everyone else and their side comments...
I dont think people realize that itll be here before you know it. Clearly that guy doesnt know the meaning of early saving & researching... Go ahead and research your 2011 rings ... im sure another jewelrer will appeciate it and accomodate you professionally...

OMG Are you serious!!? I hate when people say that.. if the couple are rushing because they are scaried of breaking up..then why spending $20k - $30k sooo quickly? ... just hand the $$ to the lawyers.. what a dumb ***** .... Wooossa... positive vibes positive vibes!! ... lol
