Sonesta St. Maarten

Has anyone stayed in the Sonesta hotel in Maho Beach, St Maarten. We are going for our honeymoon and can't wait. Is there anything we should know about the hotel? What to do? What not to do?

have fun- Im sure it'll be a great trip! I visited St. Martin once on a cruise and loved it there!

We were seriously considering St Maarten but decided against it do to the weather. We looked into this hotel and after reading mannnny reviews we realized it wasnt the place for us.

Some things I found out:
1. Its on the dutch side - right near the airport.
2. Planes fly about 100 ft off the beach - while its a nice attraction - wouldnt want to stay at a place with constant airplanes flying over me.
3. Doesnt have the nicest beaches
4. Apparently has bad service

Some pros
1. Its one of the only bigger resorts on the island other than the Westin or La Sammana
2. They have nice swim up pools
3. Its near all the night life and busy busy Dutch side if thats what your into.

Check out the Westin or L'Esplanade on the French side

I have been there twice and it really is by far one of my FAVORITE vacation spots!!!!
Yes, its right by the airport but seriously, its not all that bad. Its actually really cool watching the planes land. They planes stop around 9pm so you wont hear them in the middle of the night.
