HI - I recently lost my grandfather and FH's grandfather only has another day or two left, he's in the hospital - we just found out today :( I was looking for a song that we can play during the reception in dedication to those who are no longer with us. I want to honor them but I don't want everyone to get sad either. Can anyone recommend a song that would be appropriate for that? Or do you think I should just maybe skip the whole thing?

Josh Groban - To Where you are is a beautiful song.

Who can say for certain Maybe you're still here I feel you all around me Your memories so clear
Deep in the stillness I can hear you speak You're still an inspiration Can it be? That you are mine Forever love And you are watching over me from up above
Fly me up to where you are Beyond the distant star I wish upon tonight To see you smile If only for awhile to know you're there A breath away's not far To where you are
Are you gently sleeping Here inside my dream And isn't faith believing All power can't be seen
As my heart holds you Just one beat away I cherish all you gave me everyday 'Cause you are mine Forever love Watching me from up above
And I believe That angels breathe And that love will live on and never leave
Fly me up To where you are Beyond the distant star I wish upon tonight To see you smile If only for awhile To know you're there A breath away's not far To where you are
I know you're there A breath away's not far To where you are
I cried like a baby when I heard this song at his concert... Such a beautiful song! Didn't he write this for the 9/11 families? I'm definitely using this song from my Mom.

I'm not sure why he wrote it but it makes me cry whenever I hear it.

My father will not live to see my wedding day. I will dance with my brother in his honor, but it will be a more appropriate song for us - not a father/daughter song - it will be too hard for the family.
i'm so sorry to hear this..

Re: Song for those dearly departed
me and FI are doing the same thing in honor of our beloved grandmother's...he just lost his in Feb and I lost mine in Oct 03! the song that we picked to dedicate to them is 'There You'll Be' by Faith Hill here's a synopsis: Chorus: -In my dreams I'll always see you soar upon the sky, In my heart they'll always be a place for you for all my life... -I'll keep a part of you with me and everywhere that ends there you'll be... -Because I always saw in you, my light, my strength and I wanna thank you now for always...you were right there for me, you were right there for me...always Chorus
It is such a beautiful song and the words are so meaningful!
