I am not just talking about a sad songs that you find sentimental...rather songs that REALLY gets to you everytime you hear it (almost to the point you can't listen to it) ?

I can't listen to Dance with my father by Luther Vandross...it makes me all choked up...my dad passed away when I was younger and I remember him letting me dance on his shoes ...that songs makes me sick in the pit of my stomach

I know, my father is alive but lives far away and I haven't seen him in years and I get choked up listening to it.

I know is not the same.

Joe Jackson: 'Be My Number Two'

Harry Nilsson: 'Remember' (You may know this song from the scene in _You've Got Mail_ when Meg Ryan is packing up the stuff in her closed-down bookstore and remembering her mother.

That song from Sesame Street gets me pretty choked up too, now that I'm thinking about it!

I have to stop looking at this thread now!

Hallelujah

I've heard there was a secret chord
That David played, and it pleased the Lord
But you don't really care for music, do you?
It goes like this
The fourth, the fifth
The minor fall, the major lift
The baffled king composing Hallelujah

Hallelujah, Hallelujah
Hallelujah, Hallelujah

Your faith was strong but you needed proof
You saw her bathing on the roof
Her beauty and the moonlight overthrew you
She tied you
To a kitchen chair
She broke your throne, and she cut your hair
And from your lips she drew the Hallelujah

Hallelujah, Hallelujah
Hallelujah, Hallelujah

Maybe I've been here before
I know this room, I've walked this floor
I used to live alone before I knew you
I've seen your flag on the marble arch
love is not a victory march
Its a cold and its a broken hallelujah

Hallelujah, Hallelujah
Hallelujah, Hallelujah

There was a time you'd let me know
What's real and going on below
But now you never show it to me do you?
Remember when I moved in you?
The holy dark was moving too
And every breath we drew was hallelujah

Hallelujah, Hallelujah
Hallelujah, Hallelujah

Maybe there's a God above
And all I ever learned from love
was how to shoot at someone who outdrew you
Its not a cry you can hear at night
Its not somebody who's seen the light
Its a cold and its a broken hallelujah

Hallelujah, Hallelujah
Hallelujah, Hallelujah
Hallelujah, Hallelujah
Hallelujah, Hallelujah

This song makes me cry too..whenever I listen to the Shrek soundtrack!

Re: SONGS

Mine are weird..

Well first one is
' I cant smile without you' by Barry Manilow...Gets to me all the time ( I think its suppossed to be a happy song and maybe I need counseling)

Also- Theres a song from Celine Dion called
' Fly' ..a song about a friends stillborn baby, personal experience has me in the fetal position crying if I even think of that song.

And 'Smile' ..From Hope Floats ( was sung by Lyle Lovett I think on the CD)
Where it says 'Smile...even though your heart is breaking'...FORGET IT...I SOB.

Song my father used to sing to me. I don't even know the name of it. It goes:

It is the evening of the day
I sit and watch the children play
