Pretty bad :(

I don't want to offend anyone who had a good experience with Saymels but I was not very happy. My saleswoman was not very helpful. I showed her photos 6 dresses by designers they carried - they had none of them! Then I asked if she could show me something similiar - nothing again! She didn't suggest anything that might look good or be in the same style categories as those I chose. She let us look at the racks and try on what I wanted but her feedback was rather flat. I realize I went on a Friday evening so she was probably eager to go home but I would have liked someone more eager to help me. To add insult to injury, several of the dresses I picked out from the racks were too small to even try on! I am a size 14 so I don't expect to be able to fit into the sample size 10 but at Kleinfelds, I could fit into everything I tried on (just couldn't zip it up). Im not blaming Saymels but I thought this was strange considering I had no problems at Kleinfelds, even in the same designers. Another annoyance is that the sales woman kept bringing me samples of plus size dresses (none of which were the styles I requested), just because she had them. Any other suggestions of locations I can get to by train?

Don't feel too bad

Hi Steph, I think Bridal Reflections in Carle Place is a great idea. They have a huge selection and I have heard great things about their staff. Also, let's find the bridal building in NYC. I know a few girls (cousins) that got dresses there. They have tons of stuff. I think your help at the other place was a bit rude to bring you plus size dresses. You are too small to wear a plus size gown and it is unfair to make you feel bad because their samples are too small for most girls. Cheer-Up we still have tons of time to find one.

Don`t feel too bad

Sorry to hear they treated you this way. I'm a Saymels bride and was there saturday for my first fitting which didn't go to well. Before you go dress hunting at another salon, get the style number of the dresses you want to see call the store and ask if they have those dresses. I did this for my BM and it worked out great, I even did this for my our of town BM's. It saves a lot of time and traveling.

Re: Don't feel too bad

Sorry about that. I went to Flowerama on Myrtle Ave in Queens (Glendale) and liked it. Its about a 6 block walk from either J or M train (I'm not too sure which).

Re: Don`t feel too bad

I went to RK b/c they were listed for having a dress I wanted , but they only had the designer. So I found the dress # from the website and called a few shops. I went to one that had it and they turned out to be wonderful. (Bridal Suite in Bayshore - a hike from queens, but the service was great and its kind of near my moms)
