SoonToBeMrsK - OFC
I commented on your OFC thread, and next thing I knew, LIW deleted the entire topic. I guess the censors are working overtime. I just wanted to let you know how I felt. I wish I had copied my original post, but here goes again...
I'm so sorry you're going through such a hard time. I can't imagine, on top of all of this already, having the added logistical and financial nightmare of dealing with the Kosher issue. I truly hope you can figure it out.
I think brides on this site tend to get very defensive about their reception halls, and that may explain the aggressive responses you have been getting. I understand that- the halls are the most expensive part of the wedding, and no one wants to hear of a bad experience. I speak from experience- a few weeks ago, there was a post that the food at my hall was bad. All hell broke loose, a bunch of us called the hall to freak out, and it was a false alarm. It turns out the poster had the wrong hall. None of it mattered, of course, as LIW deleted the thread promptly.
I think it's important to remember that we don't all have the same experience with vendors. Maybe Tom of the OFC was having a bad day, and didn't give Mrs. K the same stellar service he had given someone else. Perhaps Mrs. K was at the end of her rope, and wasn't in her best state of mind when she posted. The point is, I have spoken with vendors who were highly reccommended on this site, and my experiences weren't always positive. Doesn't mean the vendor wasn't great, just means I had a different experience.
I'm sure there isn't a bride on this site who hasn't had that low point. I have complained to friends about some vendors- the difference is that Mrs.K posted here. I'm sure she thought this was a safe haven of sorts, considering we are all going through the same thing, and I'm sure she could have used some support. I know there are times I needed it. I'm sure all of you have had those times as well. I certainly wouldn't want to be judged in one of my lower moments.
To Mrs. K- I'd suggest you speak with the Royalton bride, who seems to have some concrete experience in this area. Perhaps you should contact area Temples as well. I'm sure they are familiar with kosher-friendly reception halls.
I am so sorry you are going through a hard time, and I really hope it works out for you, and your wedding is as beautiful as you'd always hoped.
