Sooo cute... my mom's attempt to throw me off the scent of my bridal shower!!!

I received an invitation to a 'Christening' for my FH's friend's daughter...

1) the invitation looked like it was as old as I was
2) it was in my mother's handwriting
3) there was no church for the location of the christening... just a restaurant
4) it's for the day my FMIL is leaving for FL, so I know it's not the day of the actual shower, she's just trying to confuse me
5) the return address is Franklin Square, yet it's postmarked Syosset, where my mom lives.

When my FH came home last night, I told him we were invited to a fake Christening and showed him all the 'proof'. He's like, 'Alright, Miss Detective. Stop ruining things.'

I have no invitations but I know it is this weekend, just not sure which day....

1) we are going out on Saturday for his friends b-day. his friend from MD is coming up for the other friends b-day, but just for the day(they usually stay by us) both of their wives are invited to the shower.
2) we are supposedly going to my FMIL's birthday brunch on Sunday, her b-day is tomorrow and we are going there for dinner, so why celebrate twice....
3)my mom asked us to go to AC for the weekend they were going to try to get rooms...
I said sorry we can't....

They try so hard to throw you off but they just make it obvisous.

FH's grandmother gave it away though... My FSIL just had a baby and Grandma hasn't seen her yet, so Grandma said to my FMIL right in front of me, so how can I get to see the baby, I was hoping to see her at the shower...

yeah.... I know mine is Sunday. It's supposed to be a surprise, but I figured it out.

That's the day we're taking my FMIL to 'lunch'. Meanwhile, my FH's family is so not a 'going out to eat' family. My poor mom had so many people fall through on her who were supposed to be in on a way to get me there - and it turns out they're not even coming to the shower (work people). Plus, I knew it was gonna be in August because my FMIL is up from FL. It wasn't hard to figure out.

I'm just happy I know when to wear the dress I bought especially for the shower.

I told my MOH and mom that at this point, I just want to be blindfolded the whole way there since I don't know where the shower is, so I'll be surprised walking IN and I can see everything... THAT will be special.

i am like Nancy Drew when it comes to this stuff and my family NEVER has parties out so every party from now until the wedding i am going to think is my shower!

what we did for my cousin's shower was an awesome idea. . . to throw her off we said we were planning her mom's 50th bday party. . . so of course she kind of figured that was the shower but instead. . .the day before she has to 'drop off the decorations' and THAT was actually the shower- we threw her off by telling her like 5 minutes before she had to go so she never had time to think of it!

if she wasnt surpised she should become a an actress!

i am like Nancy Drew when it comes to this stuff and my family NEVER has parties out so every party from now until the wedding i am going to think is my shower!

sounds like my fh when i was like, 'the birthday party can't be real because the card with directions to the restaurant had a hole in it like it had been thumbtacked to a board. why would she send that to me when she should have had enough for all the invitations?'
