I guess when I calculated the honeymoon I kind of forgot I have to pay for flights sooner than everything else.

that sucks. i'm dreading to see what my flights will cost when they are available too.

We are going to Italy, Greece, Turkey, Spain, Monaco.

We are doing extra nights in Spain and Italy.. altogether I think it works out to 17 nights, 19 days (if you include travel).

We are flying into Barcelona, flying out of Venice.

I think we may be in EUrope around the same time?

We postponed our honeymoon til summer because we wanted to go when it was warm (we will take a mini-moon somewhere in February). SO we will actually be in EUrope in June. Are you going right after your wedding?

That seems high. We were just in Europe. Flew to Barcelona, then flew from Barcelona to Amsterdam for an overnight layover and it was $1800 for both of us

$1.5k each is too high. Unless you're flying during February break, there's no reason for flights to Europe to be that expensive over the winter. I fly roundtrip from London a few times a year, and it's $600-$900 roundtrip per time.

One-way tickets are ridiculously expensive. Go to kayak.com and search as a multicity itinerary. I estimated your dates as 2/20/11 - 3/8/11 for NYC - Barcelona (BCN) and then Venice (VCE) - NYC. Delta has direct flights for $666 per person round trip and American has flights with one stop on the way back for $685.

I don't think that you'll do much better than those prices, but you can also use yapta.com to track prices.

Or, if you have airline miles, use them! FM me if I can help.

eta: I just saw that you said June. I'll recheck kayak now :)

The airline I saw $1407 pp for was Delta.

Wouldn't prices be cheaper since the economy is so bad and less people are traveling?

apparently not.. lol I have like 5 people look into this for me all saying it's too high - but no one can find anything cheaper. such bullsh*t

its bc its peak season for europe. everybody goes during the summer. weird bc we went in may which isn't that much earlier. maybe they'll go down? sometimes they do
