THIS IS THE ORIGINAL POST, BUT MY UPDATE IS ON PAGE TWO -- WE LOVE OUR ALBUM NOW! YEAH SILVERFOX!!!

Hi everybody.

Haven't been on in a while, but I'm really upset about this album thing and I was hoping maybe some of you could give me your opinions.

Here's the deal . . . DH and I LOVE our wedding proofs. Lots of creative/photojournalistic shotsand the studio was great with everything. We've had a very hectic year and we only got around to thinking about the album a few months ago.

When we did sit down with someone at the studio we were having trouble narrowing down our shots -- and we thought we'd be talking to the designer about choices, but no such luck. In the end we had to do a lot of compromising, but we narrowed down the shots, keeping in some unique ones that we imaged would make our album really special. (example -- just my BoK or my shoe, etc)

Unfortunately, the designer gave us what I think is a very very plain, even boring layout. And apparently the only way that I can get some of the things I imagined is to pay a redesign fee and wait another 3 months -- which I am not willing to do.

So, here I am . . . very disappointed in my album.
And my designer will make any changes I specifically ask for, but at this point I am practically designing the album myself.

I'm attaching the layout and hoping some of you might be able to give me your opinions.

Maybe I'm being too much of a perfectionist. But it just seems boring to me -- especially the first couple of pages. At this point I am considering paying the extra $$ and getting a redesign . . .

What do you think?

Oh I see what you mean, the backgound is kind of boring. Just color, no photos. JMO, I would pay whatever it took to get it the way I wanted.

Your pics are amazing but I agree your layout could use that umph. If it really means that much to you I would pay the after, after all your album is what you will be going back to years from now

Thanks again, ladies . . . for the encouragement. I'm so glad I vented to y'all.

I also called the studio today to talk about my options. I didn't really complain about things b/c I don't actually think the designer did a bad job, I just said that I wanted to know my options and about fees in case I needed a redesign or some extra services.

The person who responded to me was very accommodating, but said that what I wanted might involve some fees. I told him I'd think about it.

Then tonight the owner of the company called to check in with me. He asked me what I was looking for and when I explained my opinions (and he looked at the design himself) he said that I could absolutely get the things I wanted without having to worry about extra fees. (In fact he seemed to 'get' my style completely -- something the designer I've been working with seems a little confused about).

Long story short -- I think I will be able to get the album I want -- hopefully soon!!

Yeah -- Silverfox!!!

Silverfox realy did the right thing regardless of them possibly loosing business over this post due to the album. The owner did really the right thing and i am glad they were plesant with you the entire time and ever got deffensive.

I am sure the owner said to the designer come on... this is not what was expected for a wedding album. Maybe a catalog design with some text slapped in to help out the negative space.

I know its going to be amazing now just with some special added touches.

Congrats to you and bravo to silverfox.

In my opinion I love your album, I think your pics are great. I think it's more important what you like..so if you were that unhappy I would change it. Could you hold onto it for a while and then decide, maybe you would feel differently about after you had time ?? Just a thought. Whatever you do I hope you are happy with your album. It looks like you had such a nice wedding.

I love the pics you chose for your album, but the background I dont love. I would pay whatever it is to have it fixed OR once done make one yourself. YOu can have them made to look just as professional but the way youw ant it.

You pics are really very beautiful, but the background doesn't display them right. Did you try doing it yourself on shutterfly?

Thanks again ladies. I actually did do Shutterfly for our parents' albums. And that came out great. I had a lot of fun putting it together and its really easy. The only drawback is that the pages are very thin and I wasn't sure how the images would age. I really wanted a big fat album that would last a lifetime. I'm going to make another with my husband's favorite funny shots of me for his bday and one for our honeymoon.

I was really interested in that site linked above (where you can design your own album). But actually the prices aren't that great compared to Silverfox. I'm getting a 10x10 album with 40 pages that's about the same price as their 20 page album.

Since the owner of Silverfox has assured me that they will keep working with me until I am completely satisfied I feel really happy to be working with them. I gotta recommend Silverfox (the pricing is a la carte -- so you can buy the album after you see your proofs).

I love the updated version! It looks professional now whereas the original looks like they just cut and paste pictures - the background makes all the difference!
