as you all know i booked my RH yesterday and i was soooo excited until one of my family members decided to piss me off. I told my aunt of the date and at first her response was yayy, then i get a text at 1:42am from her saying that she will be going to mexico on my wedding day. No 'im sorry i will try to change my trip or nothing'. ***???? My aunt is also a pastor and i wanted her to perform my ceremony so i was furious when i received her text. I told her the way she sent the text was like she didnt even care and that this will be the most important day of my life and it would really suck if she wasnt there to celebrate it with me. We are supposed to be very close. Am i being mean??? She can always go to Mexico..
UPDATED.....I just trying looking @ places for our Honeymoon for July of next yr and you cant even book for that mth?? There's no way possible my aunt had this trip planned.

You are NOT being mean. Mexico will always be there but this is (hopefully) a once in a lifetime event. I had the same issues with some of FH's family wanting to go on a vacation that would leave them very jetlagged at our wedding and maybe we should change the date...I said noooo freakin way am I changing the date of the most important day of my life just because someone felt like they wanted to go on a vacation that they could take any time.

Your wedding is a year away. How does she have a Mexico trip planned a year in advance? The flights don't even come out that far in advance? I think she could change it.

you are 100% right. she can always go on vacation. i think your best bet would be to calm down & don't start a big fight over it. wait it out a couple of days & then call her & explain how important it is that she attends your wedding.

Thanks, i really thought i was being mean, but im really upset. Fh told me to curse her out but i wouldn't do that. She said she had this planned in advance supposedly and she is going to work something out with the date.

wow she books her trips way in advance!! i would politely ask her if there is anyway to change it since it means so much to you, especially if you wanted her to perform the ceremony.

no offense but how did she already book flights for next year. im a travel agent and you have to wait for fights to open a year ahead. it was just a year a few days ago. I highly doubt she booked it yet.. the flight just came out for next july!! she can change her trip dont let her fool you. LOL.

I understand your frustation, however, we can't expect people to change their lives/plans for our weddings. I do think she could have been a little more sympathetic that she will be missing it, but I don't think you should have expected ehr to offer to change her plans

I also doubt she had booked flights already. It's practically impossible. Maybe she wanted to throw it out there to see if you'd change it b/c she had possible plans. She'll come around, I'm sure. It does sound selfish. This is your day and she should be catering to you and your needs.

You are not being mean... Unless it was something she had to attend to for work that was planned...like rebuilding a community or something Pastorly like.... I'm really surprised she would be this insensitive (not that I know her at all). But... I would be disappointed too.

I do not think you are being mean...she has lots of time to change or plan a trip leaving the day AFTER ur wedding or to go and come back before your wedding. hope things get better
first of all... she already has her trip planned to mexico for NEXT july???? I didnt even book my honeymoon yet for next may!!! I doubt it's booked already - why cant she change the dates then??? That doesnt make sense to me...

For real, i havent even booked my honeymoon yet either. I really dont understand b/c when i first told her my date she was happy and then like 6hrs later she tells me shes going to Mexico. This is just getting me more upset b/c now I know she is B.S.ing me
