SUNY Oneonta- Delta Sigma Tau (was Sigma Delta Tau previously)
I still have some stuff in my mom's attic. I wear the t-shirts as pjs.

Why did they change it? I know people who were SDT at Buffalo, is it changed nationally, or just at Oneonta?

It just changed at Oneonta. We were not recognized and they wanted to start a new recognized one, so we just switched the letters.

*** I stole this from a post in 2003*** LOL
I figured since we were on the subject, this might be appropriate. Enjoy!

A Sorority Is.......

A sorority is not entirely a flower, national
conventions, pledge tests, worn-out songs, by-laws,
membership standards, or a golden pin.

And it's not entirely an institution, a creed, a
legacy, an obligation, or a way of life.

A sorority is also
Moving in for the first time and slowly learning that
all beautiful people have fat legs and do use
mouthwash.

Sitting next to an alum you don't particularly like
and being nice because maybe it means something to her.

Long, tired eternities of black coffee and exam snacks when you still can't remember the Renaissance architects or the mossy taproot system.

Borrowing a skirt from Nikki and a blouse from
Allison, shoes from Mary, a scarf from Cindy, and a
coat from Kristen for that big date and passing it off
as your own.

Sitting on the back steps and listening with all your
helplessness because she's lost and she's lonely and it seems the whole world just fell into ugly, little
pieces.

And it's
Coming in very late one night and closing the door to tell someone who's seen you through the hardest years of your life that your happy now, and you're getting married.

And a sorority is, I suppose, a kind of learning
experience. You grow up inside these halls and perhaps you do learn more of this grizzly, ungrateful circus we call life, than if you lived it somewhere else.

You learn that some lecture halls are just watery
echoes and that there are silent rooms for your deeper rivers.

You learn that no matter where you come from or who took you there, you've still got to find that one
small acre that belongs to you, by yourself.
You learn that the world is made up of people you're not going to like, and you live with them anyway.

You learn to wait, because change is slow and change isn't always right.
You learn that there's a lot left to believe in and a
whole lot more to hope for.
You learn that love has never been easy, and that it's a long time coming.

And if you're smart, or very lucky, you learn that no
matter how big or how messy the world becomes, what is precious and what is permanent is always the same.

And in the end
A sorority can only be a better way to live ...
And love.

I was in Alpha Phi. I still have a lot of my stuff. I keep my pin in my jewelry box and my paddle in the basement. I still wear all of the shirts to bed.

I went to Stony Brook . . . The Phi Sigma Sigma girls looked like a great sorority! I never joined one . . . but based on rush week - they would have been the one to join for me.
