Congrats on your newly taken vows or upcoming vows....as someone who's soon to be celebrating their 3rd anniversary; the day flies by; enjoy it & take the time to stand back & take it all in.
My Question is this...what is the going rate for a gift when going to a wedding?
It's been a good 2 years since the last wedding we've been to & I'm really out of the loop.
Not for family; or if you're in the wedding party, just in general.
Any help would be appreciated.
Thank you!
ETA: I know this topic usually causes drama...that's not my intention at all.

We give $300 as a couple normally. Less out of state, I give $150 alone.
ITA - unless it's super close friends or family. We usually go up to $500 then.

I give b/w $150-$200 per person. So anywhere b/w $300 and $400 per couple.

I would say the least amount would be 300.00 per couple I went to a wedding last year with FH for a co worker and thats what we gave

$250-$300 for people that we aren't very close to.

you can also try calling the place that the wedding is and ask how much a plate it is

Re: Sorry to Crash...quick wedding Q re: gift $
I have to say that having read one of these threads before I was skewed a little on my expectations for wedding gifts. . I would say on average those people who gave me checks did give in this range 200 per couple up to 400 for the folks with more money but many people who gave gifts gave MUCH MUCH less. .. so I just want to say that I think it really depends. . I had anything from nothing to a 40 dollar gift for a couple so I had heard a lot on here about it being right to 'cover your plate' but I'd say maybe 10% top of my guests actually did that. . which again I am not judging b/c I wanted them there and invited them there to share with me not to get things. . but had heard so much here about these higher amounts that I was more shocked and dissapointed
which is NOT TO SAY THAT YOU SHOULDNT GIVE - I THINK THOSE OF YOU who do are AMAZING GENEROUS THOUGHTFUL LADIES
just that there is a huge range and people may not have the same expectations to give or recieve or ability to give or receive

I would say $300 per couple unless I'm REALLY close to them, then I would do more.
