Sort of Spinoff to allornil's Dad post - Did your FH's speak to your Fathers before proposing?

If so, do you know the story? How long before did they speak?

FH pulled my dad aside at my FH's birthday party and told him that he wanted to go out to breakfast soon because he wanted to talk him. My dad knew what it was about. When they went out FH asked for his blessing. My dad told him that he not only had his blessing but his gratitude for helping create such a happy life for me. 2 weeks later Cory proposed. When I called my Dad he let the cat out and told me what had happened.

yes FH spoke w my Dad before. Honestly, I was sort of put out by it. I'm 40 years old! I don't need my parents permission to do anything!

But FH thought it was disrespectful not to and they went out for coffee and my dad even dragged the poor guy to Home Depot after.

He's a kiss azzzzz. lol

He did. I was on a plane to Ohio for work and he waited until I was in the air before making the drive to my house.

He pulled up and called first - my dad answered the phone and FH said 'Hi, just wanted to make sure you are home. I wanted to talk to you and Mrs. XXX for a minute.'

FH walked up to the door - my dad let FH in and called up to my mom 'Joann, you better come down here'

FH spilled the beans - only telling them that it would happen before Christmas b/c the plan he had wasn't working out yet and he didnt want to spoil it. But he did promise to let them know exactly when it was happening when the plans were final.

He said he spent a good hour to an hour and half there. I'm glad he did it

yes he did... he actually asked my mom, dad, and both my grandmas before asking me, which I thought was so cute!

My aunt actually has a picture of FH showing my mom the ring for the first time and I thought it was so cute!

I unknowly walked in when he was asking my dad. And then it became a huge ordeal. They didn't get their story straight, and FH told me they were talking about one thing, my dad said another. I got annoyed, because what my FH said they were talking about, i thought it was none of his business, and he shouldn't have been asking my dad about it. haha

It was pretty rediculous. but then a couple of days later. . . .we were engaged!

FH spoke to both my dad and my mom. Apparently my aunts and uncles where also present so he asked them all for my hand in marriage. I was still at work and when I came home FH was there with the family. He then proposed a month later.

These stories are so sweet I'm gonna cry!!!!!!!! Fh asked both my parents, my mom said ofcourse and my dad is really deaf and refuses to get a hearing aid, so he prob didn't hear him cause he didn't respond and they both were in the same room. Although my dad didn't respond to FH, lol, he absolutely loves him!!!!!!! Everything is Danny would like this, or whats danny doing or I clipped some coupons for danny!!!!!!!

FH asked my dad the day before he proposed! My father had a feeling he was coming over to ask permission to marry me so he put a sign on the door saying Go Away! and he was sitting at the kitchen table with all of our steak knives out!

FH asked my mom and my sister about 3 months before while they were visiting us when we lived on the west coast. Since he couldn't see my dad beforehand to ask, he called him up and asked him the day before. Apparently my dad asked him what the F took so long

Awww, yeah he did.... he was going to ask him father's day weekend while my dad was here visiting.. I had noidea he had the ring, he didn't propose til August! but 2984432 things happened and my dad wound up only being here for a few hours so FH never got time alone with him so he had to do it over the phone.

My dad nd FH are so cute together

FH asked my dad when we were there Thanksgiving weekend. He was helping my dad outside in the garden, and I was inside talking with my mom. I had no clue about it. He told me after he proposed that he asked my dad, and he was scared that my mom and I saw them hug through the window- the thought the surprise was ruined!

yep! FH asked my mom and dad. he also told almost all of his family members, my sister, and a bunch of friends! how i didn't figure it out before is beyond me!

FH did ask my parents. He went to their house one night when he got out early from work and he told me he had a meeting at the FD... he was at my parents asking their permission... that was a thursday. He picked up the ring the next day so they never got tos ee the ring until it was on my finger b/c he forgot I was off that Friday. He planned on picking it up and showing it to them. He told me this whole excuse that he forgot his wallet at the FD and had to go Friday to pick it up (he needed it b/c we were leaving for PR sunday) and thats when he went into the city to pick up the ring. :)

FH asked my mom before he had the ring. He wanted to wait till he had the ring to ask my dad (who lives out of state). Of course my mom ended up calling my brother (who works with my dad) and my dad ended up overhearing everything so FH never got to officially ask him.

Yes, FH spoke with my dad I believe about a week before he proposed. It was Father's Day so everyone was over my parent's house. FH asked my dad if he could borrow one of his horror movies (my dad has a huge movie collection). So they went down to the basement alone and my dad started getting his directory of movies out (he literally has a million movies..haha). So, FH told my dad his real reason for wanting to bring him downstairs to the basement was because he wanted to be alone with him because he loves me very much and wants to marry me, and that he wants my dad's blessing. My dad was really caught off guard because he really did think that my FH just wanted to borrow movies..lol. FH told me that my dad said a bunch of nice things to him and that my dad even started tearing up!! FH told me that my dad even called him the next day with more nice things to say and that it sounded like he was getting choked up. FH then asked me to marry him about a week later on the first day of our cruise vacation!!
