Sort of Wedding Related Vent

OK, so FH called in a huff. FFIL just told him he was selling the house in May and FH needed to be out in July. Now... this wouldn't be a big deal, but we JUST had this conversation with FFIL and he promised he would wait until we found a place to sell the house. We explained we'd be in our own place by next October.

Our whole budget is ABSOLUTELY nailed down to the penny... and now we have to rethink EVERYthing. I'm just so frustrated... We'll manage even if we have to rent first. FH is going to ask FFIL about renting to buy the house he's trying to sell.

Nothing ever goes as planned does it... I guess we'll be eating grilled cheese for the next year and a half.

awww I am soo sorry hun I could imagine the frustration you are going thru I know sometimes we girls want certain things a bit pricey but there are many ways in cutting out corners I am sure you and FH will find a way to make it work and still have a gorgeous wedding. I don't hink you should change your ideas what's most important that you do your research and see where do you get the best deal and negotiate that's all. So you and FH won't go out us much any more but HEY you guys love each other and as long as there is love you will work everything out. Once you get settled and get back on track financially you will be able to enjoy wonderful moments and many more! Things always fall into place at the end!!!! Good luck Joanne!!!

That scks!! I hope everything works out for you! Hopefully you can re-work your budget easily so you wont have to change too much around.

I'm def. with you on the eating grilled cheese for awhile....or what feels like forever. Weddings and houses are too expensive.

Is he putting it up for sale in May? Or moving out in May? Because in this market...it could take a long time to sell...maybe it will buy you some more time : )

FH will be talking to his dad tomorrow... we have a back-up plan, but from what I understand he's putting the house up for sale in May... and expects to be out in August. I understand that might not happen in today's economy... so I'm trying to stay optimistic.

There's nothing we can do but plan like we'll be moving in the summer rather than the fall like we planned... so we're just going to cut it tight for awhile.

Everything always works out and always happens for a reason... so it'll all be OK.

I am going to marry the love of my life, nothing is more important than that

Thanks to all of you for your support!! I appreciate it!!!

Aw that *****!! The only thing that gets in the way of plans is making them!

Fh and I are totally on board with the Grilled Cheese for two years. It will be worth it... my parents had pasta five nights a week to save money before they were married and she never forgot it!!

I'm so sorry Joanne. This just plain stinks. There is nothing worse than depending on someone and having them let you down when you need them most. I'm sure you both will make it work and with today's market, it may take some time before the house is even sold.

I wish you luck and lots of

I'm over it. I'm trying really hard to stay open-minded with regards to FHs father, but it's hard.

I think he believes FH and I are made of money and he's jealous that with careful planning, etc. we're able to afford these things so he's just trying to muck it up because he's sort of jealous. (just married his 3rd wife in a quickie ceremony in April -- is having a hard time making ends meet because they shop a lot).

I'm just going to pretend like it doesn't bother me, and keep on keeping on.... if he continues to see how happy we are and that we're STILL going to do exactly what we want to do ... all this ruckus about moving will eventually stop.

If he moves? So what... we'll just rent. No, I won't rent that he ll-hole of a house it was a handy-man's special when he bought it... now it's worse. Half finished projects EVERYwhere.
