Sorta strange invite question

Lets say you are friends with 2 people who are dating one another and are in a serious relationship... do you send them both a separate invitation? Or would you just send to 1 person? They arent living together

depends on the relationship. If they are serious then i would send it to one person, the one you are closest with i guess, thats how i did it. If they are recently just dating and not that serious i would send it separately

well they are definately serious... my FH has worked with both of them... i became good friends with the girl and FH currently works with the guy... technically, we knew the girl first and for a little longer... i really have no clue in this situation...

If they're serious, I'd say send it to the girl with both of their names on it (unless she's still living at home with her family - that might be weird for them to see the guy's name on a piece of mail coming to their house. In that case, I'd send separately). This is just what I would do.

if you knew her first and a little bit longer then send it to the girl. The girl will be the one who fills out the rsvp card regardless and will mail it out so infact you are better off sending it to her, bc if you send it to him he'll just hand it to her probably to do it lol.

I know someone who got really offended about this and her and her boyfriend don't live together. My BF sent the other girl and invite and the girl complained to me about it which was really uncomfortable so this situation gets me nervous. Good question...I don't know what to do about this either.

also dont be afraid to just ask. Say hey, we have to send you guys your invites and wanted to double check addresses, and just ask which one of you should i send the invite to and see what they say. Say you want to send them 1 invite since you are inviting them as a couple. The girl will like this and will be the one who cares anyways. But this way they can tell you what is easiest.

People used to ask dh and I this question too and i never minded when they asked us. At that time i used to say to send it to DH actually. I lived in a building and hardly ever had my mailbox key on me and i said dh always checks his mail first so better off.

The rule is... if you are friends with them both and they each would have been invited whether or not they were dating, then they should each get their own invitation.

Even though FH and I were on the verge of getting engaged, whenever our friends, who were friends with both of us, got married we got separate invitations. Even FH's brother's girlfriend is getting her own invitation.

well i guess thats a good rule of thumb considering what would happen if god forbid they broke up right? but then again... even engaged couples break up... i should have extra invites so if i did do it this way, it shouldnt be a problem

i dont know but i preferred getting one invite, i didnt like it if we didn't but everyone is different i guess. I mean that is what etiquette says. I followed etiquette with wording, and even the little things like writing out the FULL address no abbreviations not even for county then state and all that. BUt as far as some things like this i followed my own rules

i sent every single couple 1 invite each which thank god bc even with that i still send out over 200 invites, i wouldve ended up sending out close to 300 invites otherwise, i also made sure dh found out full names of his friends gf's so their names also appeared on the invite. Didnt want to send anyone in a relationship and guest. Oh but i did send anyone over 18 their own invitation if their parents were invited and lived in same household so that i did follow.

ITA, I liked being acknowledged as a couple and not receiving separate invitations even though we weren't married. I don't think I would have liked if we both received invitations to the same event. Plus, you're right, it really saves money on invites sending one to the couple...

i would send them both their own.

just to play devils advocate, i almost did this and then they broke up. it was awful and SO unpredictable. i know it sounds crazy but imagine if it happens and then if he got the invite he brings a date and she feels like shes imposing.
