We got engaged at the Ritz Carlton in Battery Park! It was great, but if you want more midtown I would say the Pierre or the St. Regis...

we really are not sure where we want...we were looking into the marriot marquie. I was just hoping to get some hotels that people liked or have heard were really good. We are taking a mini-moon after the wedding becasue of my grad school scedule and his work schedule.

Don't stay at the Marriott - all tourists and businessmen and generic flowered bedspreads! New York has so much more to offer in the way of Hotels. JMO.

Suggestions for funky, fun hotels outside of Times Sqaure, but still located in great areas. I would do a citysearch search for these to get reviews and stuff.

Soho Grand
Tribeca Grand
W Court
Mercer

Hudson Hotel...it's awesome and has an outdoor bar if you are going during nice weather

I think the Carlyle is really classy and old school NY.. per my above post.

Another hip new hotel is the Hotel Ganesvoort... in the west village--

we stayed at the four seasons -- they have a romance package. It was soo nice and the view was unbelievable. They upgraded us to a city view suite -- what a room!
