please please please don't get the nuvaring or the patch. my sister was on the nuva ring and had a blood clot in her lung break loose and ended up in her brain. the dr's found that it was due to the ring. she is 'fine' now but will be on medication for the rest of her life.
eta: there are several class action lawsuits against both the manufacturers of the nuvaring and the patch b/c of clots

I have friends who swear by nuvaring, but the lawsuits would give e pause.
I don't know if you've had children, but usually IUDs are only for people who have

My Aunt is an OB/GYN and her recommendation for me was no IUD because I had not had children yet. As for the ring or patch i personally don't know anyone on them. Once I have a kid then i think an IUD will be for me, but until then it is the good old pill. Have you asked your OB about the shot? I really have no info on it.

i researched the shot and the side effects are scary...apparently it decreases the calcium in your bones or something...idk, easy enough to scare me away from that.
i wasnt aware of the lawsuits with the ring. my doc recommended that to me :-/

OMG! Really? Yes, I just came from the GYN and she recommended the pill first then NuvaRing, I did some research and did see the info regarding the clots, that freaks me out...
Yes, re: IUDs, I got the same advice....I was told if I were to do it, I should do Paragard.
Lot's to think about...thanks guys!!!

Girls, please stay away from both of them. From my own personal experience years ago I had an IUD and became pregnant with it, but the pregnancy was in my tube (ectopic pregnancy) . My right tube was about to burst and I almost died, but thankfully the doctor caught it in time. It was so painful (like a cesearen section). Thankfully I was able to have my two sons even with one fallopian tube.
