SOS w/ In-laws

SOS w/ In-laws

Ok, so FH and I have had the budget talk w/ his parents. They said they want to help, prob. w/ the photographer/videographer. There are 2 things here. 1.) They live in Westchester and I (& reception) are here and 2.) FH and fam. aren't as quick pace as my mom and I (if they were, we'd be making appointments to look at photos right now). Anyway, their stance is if they're paying for the photographer & videographer, they're looking and making the decision... which is fine. BUT, again, we prob. want someone that's near the reception site. So, do I give them a list of co's to call and speak w/ or let them TAKE THEIR TIME w/ this. There's only so many times I can say to FH 'did you talk to your parents about the photographer/videographer' b4 I get annoyed. Help! Please send me FM w/ suggestions. Thanks girls!

i think it is nice of them to offer anything, since some people dont
i WOULD however give them a list of people; kind of narrow down their choices and explain that you want someone that is familiar with the area and is local to the RH

I would give them a list of photographers near you and that you are interested in...I'll be honest i wouldn't be able to let anyone make that decision for me so i would give them a list of only photographers you LOVE.

i agree with denise
pics are such a major part of your wedding
def. narrow down the list for them

i agree with both of these replies.... the pictures are one of the most important things after the wedding is all over. you want someone good who you will work well with. definitely narrow down your search and take it from there

OOh thats a tough one, I would rather work a billion extra hours than let someone pic my photographer. What my mom did was give me a set amount of $$ so i couldnt go crazy, but so i was able to pick someone I loved. If the person was more than what she was giving it was up to me to pay the rest. HTH

FH and I will def. have the last say, but I don't want this to take months, I want it done in the next few weeks (a month tops) and local!

Stress to them that all the good photographers are going to book up and you really dont want to lose your chance.

well I would tell them that alot of photographers are already booked which is true because for some reason May 17th is a popular date-theres about 10-12 of us just on here. This way they might hurry up

Thanks. Mom and I just had a talk and I'm going to email my MIL and ask her if she's more comfortable w/ paying for the limo (or something simple). We're gonna fib and say that someone's been recommended to us and we're gonna meet w/ them. You girls are right, the photos are extremely important, we def want the best!

good idea.....you want to love your pictures - its really nice that they offered to pay for something but it is your day and you should be able to use the photographer that you like. good luck - i hope everything works out for you!

Is it possible for you and FH to go with your fils when they go look at photographers? You don't necessarily have to get a local vendor unless there's a vendor you are in love with. Lots of good photographers go all over New York and are familiar with lots of churchs and reception halls.
HTH Good luck!
