Has anyone done a honeymoon in South America? We were looking at doing the Galapagos and Amazon. We weren't sure if we should stay at a place on the Galapagos, or do the whole thing like a cruise? We want some adventure, but would still love that 'honeymoon' feel. Any suggestions?

For the Galapagos, most people stay in Quito. My co-worker says the Galapagos Islands are pretty expensive- but totally worth it! I work for a Travel Health office in the city,so any medical questions, FM me!

years ago, a friend of mine went on her HM to the Galapagos and she stayed in Quito, Equador. But, like the other poster said, i did hear it was pricey. I've never heard of anyone doing their HM in the Amazon, so I can't help you much there - but when i think Amazon, i think rainforest and native tribes, lol. I know there are cruises down there, but not at the time of year you are getting married since it will be Winter there. Not sure how much fun you would have and h ow much you would really be able to experience since it will be winter in the Galapagos as well and some animals may be hiding from the colder weather

OMG my FH is from Ecuador and it is gorgeous there!! you def might want to just take a cruise to the galapagos and stay in Quito. My cousin works at a travel agency IN Quito, so if you want maybe i can ask him for some insight or tips?

i was looking into doing a HM in South America as well, in Peru and Brazil and I have to say, if you are going to do it, buy your tickets now because the flights are really expensive. If you decide to the Galopagos islands, I agree with everyone else, you should definitely stay in Quito and take maybe a day trip or a weekend to the islands because it is pretty expensive there. I say, definitely check out Brazil and doing something in Rio de Janiero or Sao Paulo, which are both beautiful (from what all my friends have told me). I decide (after much research) to do our HM in Belize and Guatamala. I'm not much of a beach person and I love adventures and according to one of the vets I work with the Mayan ruins in Guatamala are beautiful so that should be cool!! Good Luck :)
