South Beach

I can not afford to purchase the program. My question is....is the first two weeks basically to just eat protein 3x a day and as much veggies as I can. Along with 8 glasses a water a day.

Would anyone be willing to share exactly what needs to be done in the first two weeks?

I would appreciate it.

Just buy the book! Amazon.com has it used for $3.75.

Look on BHB - someone posted the details for the first week meal by meal - I just bumped it.

First two weeks: essentially, no carbs from grains, no pasta, no rice, no cake, no fruit either (this one surprised me). 8 glasses water/day. Veggies are unlimited. Lean meats and dairy products - it's not just a low-carb diet, it's low-fat too. And, so sugar of any kind. Finally, 3 meals a day with 3 snacks (of things you can have like a piece of low-fat cheese or non-fat plain yogurt); eat until you're full - you're not supposed to be hungry.

This phase is the hardest by far, but it got better for me after day 5 or so... and average weight was pretty high in the book, even though it assumed no exercise. Don't remember the exact number, but I lost 8 pounds (w/a teeny bit of cheating). I eventually quit the diet because even though I was following Phase 2 for like 6 weeks or so after Phase 1, I just stagnated at the 8 pounds. But most people have great luck with this one, so I wish you best! Feel free to FM me w/any Q's.

Re: South Beach

Check out if your local library has it, I took it out from there, took notes and then returned it.

You could also go to a Borders and do the same - read it in the cafe area, take whatever notes you need, and then place it back on the bookshelf.
