Spain Honeymoon

My fiance and I are thinking about a honeymoon to Spain next August. We were wondering if anyone had any thoughts (good or bad) on this destination????

Spain Honeymoon

I'd recommend it. Definitely visit Barcelona - I've been there twice!

Spain Honeymoon

My husband and I were supposed to honeymoon in the Canary Islands which are a part of Spain - but actually closer to Africa. It's supposed to be beautiful. Unfortunately our wedding was the Saturday after the terrorist attacks and we opted to not go out of the country. But we hope to make it next year. I think you could find a lot of neat places. GOOD LUCK!

Spain Honeymoon

I love Spain. Barcelona is a great city. I also love Costa Brava which is less touristy than Costa Sol. However, every where in Spain is great.

That was our honeymoon spot this past June

We loved it! We went to Madrid, Barslona, and Costa Dol Sol. What we loved about it was it wasn't just 10 days of being on a beach - we got to do that but there was also so much more.

Spain

My FH is from Spain and thats where we will be heading next August...August is good (we are waiting 1 month after wedding) because there are a lot of festivals...ie Pamplona - running of the bulls, but every village has its own version.... We are going to Madrid (family) and Seville and Alicante (both on Mediterranean)...then to the CANARY ISLANDS!!! Yeah!!! I can't wait... I hear Ibeza is the hotest island right now, but maybe too much partying for a honeymoon. Don't forget...Gibralter (British colony) Italian and French Riviera, Monaco, Portugal and Morocco are also very close.

Spain Honeymoon

We decided to definitely do Spain for our honeymoon - the plan is Madrid for 3 nights, Seville for 2 nights, and Costa del Sol for 6 nights. Are we missing anything by not going to Barcelona or the Canary Islands????

Barcelona & Costa Brava

I wouldn't want to say you're missing anything, but Madrid wasn't that exciting. Its a big city without a lot of charm. I would definitely recommend Barcelona over Madrid. I was there a month ago - there are some pictures up if you want to look at them http://www.ofoto.com/I.jsp?m=28238994203&n=2060420163 We were in Barcelona for a few days then drove up the costa brava, then went inland and back to Barcelona. On another trip I did Madrid, Barcelona, Pamplona, San Sabastian, Zaragoza and Bilbao. I haven't been to Costa del Sol, but I hear its lovely and crowded. Costa Brava is beautiful (and less crowded).

one other thing

wherever you end up - definitely look into staying at one of the Paradores. They're govt run hotels and are usually old castles/forts. We stayed in one in Cardona and it was awesome. They're quite reasonable priced and its fun to spend the night in a castle.
