Do Spanx work? I'm wondering if my friend should get a pair - are they worth the money?

Oh yes they do work and are more comfortable than the standard girdle.

ok cool. her bridesmaid dress is small, so they are letting out the seams - im wondering if the spanx will help - i think they will just because the dress is a light color (taupe) and from what i hear it makes everything look nice and smooth - my sister is a size 2 and my mom was even thinking of getting her a pair so that she looks nice and smooth as well....

Yeppers, Spanx definitely work. There are many brands out there. Kohls, Macys, etc. they all have 'slimmers'

Re: Spanx
Spanx or other stuff smooths out the lumps and bumps , and I wear them with light color dresses ect. It doesn't make you look thinner, but give you a nice shape. i think its worth it

Ok cool. I'll send her a copy of this thread - Spanx shows some before and after photos on their site and it looks like they do a nice job of smoothing everything out.....They are letting my friend's dress out and we are going to go back and see if it fits, if not she'll have to buy fabric and they will have to add panels to the dress - so I'm not worried, I know they will get it to fit her but because the dress is supposed to be slim fitting and its a light color I think spanx would be a good investment.....This bridesmaid dress is driving me nuts! First my SIL gets preggers and now this and the dress was discontinued so neither girl can order a larger size! Its ironic though b/c the only person I was worried about not fitting in their dress was my sister, she is tiny a size 2, but she doesnt watch her weight and I worried that the dress would be to tight since her measurements were exactly a size 2 on the size chart and that is the size they ordered her - but she lost weight and hers is huge on her! What could work out is that my SIL ends up not using the extra fabric she ordered (she ordered extra to make the dress bigger in case her belly wouldn't fit in her size 4 dress) and my friend can just use that since its already at the store....I just wish I didn't have issues with my dress plus I have a reception dress....its a lot of dresses to worry about!

Re: Spanx
Yup!!! I have a full body spanx, from the thighs to right below the chest. It is a pain to get off to go to the bathroom though. They do have a hole in the crotch, but Im not comfortable wearing no underwear
So I just bought the Spanx that is for the belly and hips. Thats where I need it most, and its not as hard to get down.

the dress is really tight on her belly and hips/thighs so i think that the one from below the chest to the thighs would be the best - but i see what you mean about them being crotchless!

Well the one I bought for the wedding is for the belly hips and thighs. Think of it as stockings that you cut from the thighs down.

I love my Spanx, I also have fake Hanes brand ones from Macy's that look like biking shorts that really smooth everything out. Much more comfy than the spanx too
