Does anyone know if sparklers are legal in NY? I love the look of wedding sparklers!!!

My understanding is that it is not legal to buy sparklers in New York:

I am planning on using sparklers as favors in my wedding, but it didn't even occur to me to think about whether or not they were legal. I knew that it was illegal to BUY them in the state, but not that I think about it, I wonder if my venue will allow me to use them. Boo.

Exactly! I was going to give them out too, but now I am thinking that the venue won't be very happy with me if I do that and people light them up on their property...

I just used some sparklers for pictures at my wedding. It was only a few but my catering hall didn't mind at all!

I ordered them from amazon to use....but we didn't end up using them. I think they are totally fine as long as your hall okays it. Actually they sell them at wrapwithus in syosset...so yes!

I don't think it's legal in NY. I tried ordering them online but got denied because of my shipping address.

I was at a wedding in Rochester two summers ago at a golf course and they handed them out during the reception and everyone just went outside and used them...it was a cute idea and the venue def didn't mind! I would check with your venue first though just in case!

I thought sparklers WERE legal, but fireworks weren't in ny. I know my hall told me that to have all the guests have them is a problem, but I could give it to like the kids for pictures. Just have to make sure they are outside, etc. hmmm

I would just make sure that your venue is ok with them. They do sell them at wrapwithus so if they were illegal then a store in Syosset wouldn't be able to sell them
