We had 2 couples that were no shows and 2 children from other families for our eparty. ALL of these people were from FH’s side. A couple of my parents friends kids didn’t show but they bought a body to replace the kid. Fine by me because we didn’t lose money there.
Well, I ask FH to ask his mother to call and find out why these two couples didn’t come. One forgot (doesn’t make sense to me) and the other FMIL has YET to call them!! I am annoyed at her and her lackadaisical attitude!! Supposedly, up to the week of the party she had talked to the mother. W T F?!??! Does she not care that we lost money on these idiots??? I guess not since almost a month has passed and I have yet to hear anything about this family. Even up until the week of the party FMIL was telling FH oh so and so may not come! And acted like its okay…
Sorry for the vent, but I want an answer from her! And I have to send these idiots an std magnet which I really don’t want to quite frankly, but I know we should. I don’t want to send it till I find out what happened. Should I talk to her directly or attempt to use FH as my source again? He doesn’t care much either. HELLO your godmother never showed up to your party!! Wouldn’t you want to know what happened??? My mother would have been hounding my godmother on why she didn’t show up at my party if it happened to us! UGH!!!

don't send them an STD.. screw them.. and in my case, they would be ones that the invitation mysteriously got lost in the mail.. that's wrong..
did they at least send you a gift?

Some people are just so rude. They really have no idea of all the work that goes into these 'events'.

Don't get me started...................
We had 17 no shows. Not a call not a gift!
And then we had 2 people come and eat and be merry.. and didn't bring a gift. Ron calls them after the party and they said OMG we will send it..
NO gift.. Losers!

Re: Speaking about no shows at wedding/eparty…
Wanda, unfortunately some people are still learning the fine art of attending an RSVP'd event, they have no etiquette when it comes to these events. They just take them so lightly as if its just some kind of backyard BBQ GTG
I think you deserve an answer, but since they have not called with one, I don't think they are going to give you one. It is rude and inconsiderate and I don't believe they will take your wedding any more seriously. I say no STDM and no invite. I know wrong but what are you going to do???
I know its wrong to expect everyone to behave the way you do. I wonder how they would feel if they had to pay all that money for an event they planned and paid for and no one showed up These people don't even consider that you have to shell out your hard earned money for these events.

It just happens.. my God Father didn't show to our wedding.. does this mean I'm going to hold a grudge against him? No. The only thing that would do would cause me to walk around with unnecessary frustration.
Don't worry about it- be the better person & send the magnet. No use in making your FH feel bad because he has loser relatives.

They totally are loser relatives Sassy!!! I don’t care if we get a gift or not. I just want an answer. It couldn’t have been the weather. It didn’t even rain as the meteorologists predicted! How does someone have the pelotas to have a conversation with FH’s mom the week of the party and not show up? They have got some nerve. My mom was furious!!! And we have a right to be. I thought my side of the family was wacky. But that is just flat out WRONG!!! And his mother is okay with it. Which strikes another nerve in me!
My mom said she would have told her friend a thing or two and they can forget about getting an invite to the wedding and any other party that she would plan in the future for that matter! Unfortunately, this isn’t my parent’s friend or my godmother. If they were, I would have called them myself!

Wanda, this is just a prelude as to what is going to happen at your wedding.
That is just plain rude!!!!
If it were me, I would warn FH that they will NOT be receiving a STD or wedding invite.
That was so inconsiderate on their part.
You are having a top notch wedding that is NOT cheap and I would hate to see this happen to you then.

Re: Speaking about no shows at wedding/eparty…
I'm sorry I don't agree... Yes, I think they **** for what they did- no class- totally unacceptable. However, I really think you have to be the better person in these instances. It ****s but it is the truth. I'm sure your FH is aware of how crappy this is.. and that his God Mother is an idiot- but in the instances of in-laws- you just have to take to take the higher road..
I've found it eases a lot of tension and causes a lot less fights when I just roll with the punches and take the high road with my in-laws.. otherwise I'd be walking around ****ed off all the time and honestly, I just don't have the time to let stupid people ruin my day..
If you must have an answer- call her yourself- she is, after all, your FH's God Mother and an 'important' person in his life, whether or not she chooses to acknowledge her own importance... I think, however, in continuing with sending her the invite and taking the high road you will make her feel worse than if you didn't invite her. If you don't invite her she'll just say 'she didn't invite me because or xyz' and then there will be bad blood.
Family is hard- I am in no way condoning this crappy behavior- but I think this is the best bet for your sanity once the wedding is over and your dress is nicely packed away in its box.

Re: Speaking about no shows at wedding/eparty…
We had no shows at our wedding If we had had an eparty and they did not show I would not have sent them a wedding invite either.
I mean come on. How much money must we waste?

Re: Speaking about no shows at wedding/eparty…
The way I looked at it- the wedding wasn't about spending money- but it was about having a party to celebrate the love me and DH have for each other with our friends and family. We have great friends/family and totally disgusting trailer trash family- and we invited them all because they are all a part of us and who we have become as people...

You are totally right- enough is enough.. but my advise comes from someone who has the most f - ed up family around.. on both sides- and this is how I have managed to keep my sanity- believe me.

Re: Speaking about no shows at wedding/eparty…
Although I completely agree with what everyone says on not sending them anything, I do agree with Sassy. What irks me the most is FH’s mom won’t call her! Why can’t she?? I don’t think I should have to call the godmother because I will say something I will regret. This is how my FMIL handles people and it irritates me as all hell. I am not saying she has to battle it out with her close friend. But come on!! Find out what happened. Mention Carl was upset that she didn’t come. Which he was. Mention that Carl and Wanda spent a lot of money for her and her daughter to be there and they didn’t show up.
I will send them an std and an invite. But I will do it under the condition that we find out why they didn’t show up to the party. I will have FH forward this message directly to his mother. Because if I say it to her I won’t be as nice if it came out of FH’s mouth. I am being the better person here but I want an answer. I refuse to spend anymore money on these people when its so obvious they didn’t appreciate us inviting them to our e-party. No answer why they didn’t show up, no invite to the wedding. I think that is fair enough.

Good for you- put your foot down and make sure your FMIL understands you cannot afford to invite the world..especially if you are going to pay for them if they don't come. At the same time you are being the better person... you'll find this approach helps in dealing with the annoying in-laws.. Mine annoy me ALL THE TIME.

Good. I have the ammo I need to say this to FH. I haven't said anything negative yet about his godmother because I know its going to cause an argument. I have to prepare myself for it.
