Speaking of new homes; for those of you who've had your house built..

For those of you who've had your home designed and built for you, from your experiences, I am curious if there are any concerns/precautions that I should recognize beforehand..
I've already gotten pointers from my brother and FSIL whom had their homes built, as well as two friends. Just wanted to see if there's any other suggestions/judgments, more or less out of the ordinary to watch out for, or any negative feedback you may have...

Happily to add that my brother is an architect and I've always told him when the time comes I wanted him to design my home..and he is honored.
