'Special Dances' are AFTER the cake cutting???

Special Dances ?:

My fiance's parents are divorced and both re-married. How do we handle the Special Dances portion of the evening? Two mother/son dances?

I would think that it would be understood that he is just dancing with his mother... However, if he is very close to both his mother and his step mother, I think he could do two mother-son dances. It depends on the sitaution...

It's up to you and your FH how you want to handle that. You can do 2 mother/son dances if you're FH is really close with both his mother and his step-mother. Or he can dance 1 song with one of them and then halfway through switch to the other. Or, if he's not that close with his step-mom he can just dance with his mom. And if he's not close with either he can skip it altogether, nothing is a must!!

hmm i thought the spotlight dance was a special dance RIGHT after the cake cutting for the bride and groom-- then they do the mother son and father daughter dances-- lol uh oh, at least that's what my band told me-- they said to make sure to pick a song for it... hmmm

I know all weddings I've been to are like this (after the cake), but I CHOSE to do them right after our first dance.

I am not going to wait until the cake cutting to do the other dances.. I am affraid of FH drinking a little too much or someone else in the family.. lol sad huh????

LOL LMAO!!!! that is so funny, yeah maybe you should make yours earlier in the night then we are all in the same boat though-- i'm dreading my cake cutting b/c FH's cousin swears he is going to 'rush the table' and throw the entire cake all over FH... great, act like an animal AND a five year old all at the same time, SO pathetic-- what bride is AFRAID of their cake cutting?!

although I just thought of something -

I went to a wedding upstate and they cut the cake and had ALL the dances before dinner. actually before even anyone else danced.

I also just went to a wedding in NJ a few weeks ago and they did the parent dances right after their first dance, the cake cutting was still later, after dinner.

So really, do whatever you want, just let the hall know what your plan is.
