Hi So...I am the maid of honor to my best friend who is getting married in October. I've started writing my speech, (nervous ) but i thought you gals can help me with some sweet words. Has anyone given a MOH speech before? Any advice? Can anyone share anything? Thanx!!!

Re: speech
I just heard an AMAZING best man speech this weekend, so maybe you can use some of his ideas for your speech. The BM was younger than his brother by 7 years, and he began by saying how the groom was always so competitive when they played video games. He made it funny, too. And then he said there was only one time where the BM actually beat the groom at the game, and how proud of himself he was. Then he shifted to saying how proud he was of the GM at GM's graduation from law school because he didn't know that GM was so smart and would be receving awards. BM went on to say that he thought that would be his proudest moment - until he saw his older brother getting married. it was so unexpected coming from this 21 year old kid who has recently blown his family off for a girl, but I think he had everyone in tears by the time he was done. And the GM and BM hugged after the speech for a good 5 minutes.

Re: speech
I went to a wedding in the first week of August and I heard the most amazing BM speech. I cried! He was the grooms brother and is about 3 years younger. He just sat there and said how the bride made his brother a better person and that he sees how happy his brother is on his special day. And how they are perfect for eachother. Then he had all the parents stand up and thanked everyone of them- aww man I was bawling. It was amazing.

Re: speech
'How beautiful you are in that gorgeous white gown. How happy you looked walking down the aisle. How tender your first kiss during the ceremony. How sweet your first dance will be as husband and wife. As I watch you drink champagne and eat your wedding cake, I see the joy in your eyes. If I reach out, I can almost physically touch between you and (groom) and all of your family and friends gathered here today. I wish I could bottle that love, wrap it up with pretty paper and a bow, and give it to you as a wedding gift.
Then you could take it out on a rainy Saturday and be right back here, in this place, eating and laughing and dancing with everyone. But I don’t think you’ll need such a bottle. The reminders of this special day will be all around you: in the photo album on your coffee table, in the picture frame hanging over your fireplace, and in the shining band you wear on your finger every day. Use these reminders a source of comfort and strength during the hard times. And let them bring a brighter smile to your faces in times of happiness. Congratulations to you and (groom)!'

Re: speech
Take each day and cherish your time together. Love one another and stand together. Take time to talk to one another. Put your love and your family first; your job and your hobbies second. May your love be like the wind, strong enough to move the clouds, soft enough to never hurt, but always never ending. So here's to love, laughter, and happily ever after. Cheers

Re: speech
I had to give a speech as a MOH for my sister and I googled the hell out of speeches but eventually just wrote mine from the heart. I did steal one line that I thought was really great though. It said 'when you look back at your wedding day, may you remember it as the day you loved each other the least'.
