If it was up to me, no one would so speeches. But I think the BM and MOH both want to do one.

Re: Speeches
When I was MOH, I prayed that I didnt have to do a speech. (I didn't, thank goodness). Just our best man will be making a speech, and i think even he is nervous.

Re: Speeches
We're having the best men and the MOH both make a speech. I think pretty much every wedding I've been to has been that way.
Of course if one of them wasn't comfortable making a speech I wouldn't force them too.

Re: Speeches
Best Man and MOH give short speeches, as well as our parents, who want to say something

Re: Speeches
My daughter is the MOH and is 13. I will ask her if she wants to. If she doesnt then one of my BM will and the best man,FBIL, will and probably one other GM, FH best friend.

Re: Speeches
I think its nice when they both make a speech! The weddings I've been to where just the best man made the speech...people were waiting and wondering when the maid of honor was going to speak.....I think its become more the 'norm' nowadays!

Re: Speeches
I'm from the UK and there it's traditional for the best man and father of the bride to make a speech. My FH and FMIL think it's strange but I've been waiting my whole life for my Dad's speech, so I can't wait to hear it!

Re: Speeches
I'd say it's a mix of both the MOH and Bm or just the BM. One wedding I went to had the Best Man and 'Best Girl' do a combo speech, then the MOH started to rap the then her whole BP joined in. this was also at a farm wedding where the bride walked into 'Here comes the bride' played by kazoos by her BP. And the bride wore a royal blue dress. (LOVE IT!)

Re: Speeches
I am not having any speeches. I don't want to waste any fun party time!! But of the weddings I've been to, its been a mix. Most have been best man only, some have been best man and MOH, and one was best man, MOH, FOB and FOG.

Re: Speeches
at the weddings i've been to it was the MOH and BM but i've also been in a wedding that the MOH just couldnt get up the nerve to speak in public so the brides brother did a speech as well as the BM and that was great. i think it all really depends on your bridal party and who wants to speak. although i personally would try and keep it at 2 speeches maximum, you want people dancing not listening right?
p.s. i just made a speech as the MOH for my sisters wedding and as nervous as i was (so nervous i tripped and fell ) i would do it again in a heartbeat. it was for me the best moment of the day it felt like there was no one else in the room just me and my sister, getting to tell her how much she means to me. your girl's might be nervous and stressed but in the end they'll see its worth it.
