Speeches

Speeches

I know it's old school for the best man to make the speech, and more recently the maid of honor will sometimes also make a speech. I'm just wondering HOW common this is, whether it is sometimes or mostly. Thanks!

Re: Speeches

We have 2 best men. One doesn't want to make a speech. I asked my sister if she will since she is MOH she says we'll see.. but I know my brother is dying to and would in a heartbeat so I may have him do it for her instead..

Re: Speeches

I have two maids of honor, my bf and my sister. My bf has social anxiety. I'd feel bad asking her, she might have a panic attack or something. I asked my sister, and I was very happy I did after thinking about it. She accepted. But afterwards, my parents brought up that my sister is a medicated manic depressive, and stress throws her off sometimes. I don't want to be responsible for that. So I'm going to talk to my sister about how she feels about it and that if it's too much, it's ok to not make a speech.
I wouldn't want to put my bf or sister in a bad position of course, but it's a bit of a bummer.

Our BM and MOH both made speeches.

In Ireland the BM makes a speech, The father of the Bride, the Father of the groom and finally the Groom.

Re: Speeches

My sister who will be my jr MOH will be all of 12 going on 13 at the time of our wedding... the BM is my FH's cousin so he will DEF be making a speech... the MOH, likely NOT. However, I have a feeling that my 2 BM's will likely say something.

Re: Speeches

as of right now, it's just the Best Man. I am giving my MOHs the option of doing a speech, but they don't have to if they don't want to.

Re: Speeches

Our best man and MOH will most likely make speeches. My FH and I will make a quick one, too (more of a thank you).

Part of me wants my dad to say something quick, but I don't want it to be too much.

Limit it to just those 2 . i was at a wedding once where like 10 people spoke it was sooooo boring.

My parents and sister both responded 'I thought only the best man makes a speech'

Re: Speeches

My MOH asked me if I wanted her to give a speech, I told her only if she wanted to, and she said, no it's what I want. I love my MOH.

FH told me he was having 4 guys give speeches.....was so mad at him until he told me that he was kidding.

My mom just told me she wants to give a speech...not sure when she wants to though.
