Spending holidays with FH's family instead of yours for the first time?

Just curious what everyone is doing and how people feel about it... for thanksgiving we are going to his mom's for dinner and then my sister's for dessert. we think we can alternate as long as they are both near each other.
not sure about christmas yet; we might do eve at my mom's b/c it's a bigger deal in my family and christmas day at his family.
I'm kind of excited b/c i never did a holiday with his family...but I don't know how i'd feel if I wasn't seeing my family at all that day - like my sisters, who alternate every year.

we spilt the holidays but ours is a bit more challenging because he has a sis that lives here and of course all my family lives here and the rest of the family lives in NC- so we alternate at times, meaning one holiday we go to NC and others we always see his sis here and then my fam this year we are not traveling because I found out that i dont get any days off after thanksgiving, etc so it will be mainly my family kind of looking forward to it being that I havent had thanksgiving with my fam in 3 years
(the first year of compromise is tough- but then you get adjusted to it)

Well last year we did thanksgiving at my house, i have a feeling he might want to do the same this year bc his parents and brother go upstate to his aunts house and fh doesn't like the drive lol...but yesterday my mom suggested inviting his family over for thanksgiving so ill ask them, but i told her not to expect anything bc his mom might've already made the plans with her sister upstate
christmas eve his family has a tradition of going to picolo venezia this italian restaurant in the city so thats what im gonna do and at night we go back to his house and at midnight we all open up gifts.

yeah its in astoria, thats why i said it in here, i had told you about it last time when you were looking for a place to take your parents, DUH im an idiot i just saw i wrote in the city above, i dont even know why its in astoria thats the one we go to lol
I thought so but didn't want to say anything b/c you never know, there could be one in the city too, like I know there is a vespa in queens and one on the UES

i am not looking forward to this! we are splitting dinner and dessert this year. i don't know what the years will bring. my father passed away last year and my mom isn't crazy about FH's parents, so she makes me feel so guilty that i'll be leaving her and my sister at times, even though she knew this day would eventually come! Plus, I don't want to leave them either. Hopefully FH and I will have a house one day soon and we can have holidays at our house. My mom will just have to deal with FH's family! Hope she can suck it up!

yeah fh says they make it great over there...i tasted his and it was pretty good tasted like a sweet chicken.

FH's fam is more big on christmas eve then christmas so we are doing christmas eve with them It works out because we dont do a big christmas eve in my fam we do a big christmas.
